Single Troubles - Looking for ideas

Hello,

I'm trying to help out a friend who has a single turbo FD that isn't quite running 100% right. It's got all the usual mods including full exhaust, intake, intercooler, blahblah... no ignition amp but the car ran strong a few months ago and he didn't have it.

Symptoms/Observations

o The car basically runs fine around town, but lacks the mid range and top end punch it should have with 15 PSI on a single. Feels more like 10 PSI on a modded stock twins car.

o Makes 15 PSI no problems, just not as much power as it should have

o Mazda compression tester shows decent results, with very even numbers on all 6 chambers

o Wideband reveals little that sends up a red flag (for me anyhow). Runs 12-14 AFR under vaccum, and about 10-11.5 AFR under boost pressures.

o An unusual amount of oil seems to drip from the blow off valve.

o Plugs are pretty new and were light tan in color - 9s all around.

o Checked throttle body... secondaries wired open and primary butterflies open fully when the gas pedal is pressed in fully.

o Car runs a Haltech E6K. I downloaded the Haltech software and pulled the maps off the computer, but I don't have any experience with the unit, so I didn't want to just start playing with things.

Anyone got any ideas? Any Haltech people out there got an idea?

Thanks,
Brian

Barring any mechanical problems, maybe you should check the ignition maps in the boost bands.

Not enough ignition advance might be the culprit for the lack of 'punch'.

Yes, I was considering an ignition problem could be to blame as well. I -just- starting messing with the Haltech software so I didn't have visibility into timing until just now.
