Arrow Single owners help me quiet down my car!!!

I just got my car running with the apex'i single. I have a midpipe (non resonated) and the apex'i N1 single. The car is waaaaaaaaaaaay too loud even with the silencer in it. Since I am in california and there are very stringent smog laws, I am in fear of getting pulled over. can someone suggest to me an idea to quiet down my car? Any exhaust/midpipe recommendations?

The Apexi, as you know, comes with an external wastegate. If you haven't yet plumbed this back into the DP, you may want to start there. Search this forum for instructions on this.

Secondly, you may want to consider welding in a race muffler to your midpipe. I have a magnaflow welded into place and it results in an acceptable volume. There are arguments that welding a muffler in the midpipe may cause a dangerous heat increase in that area, although, I have not had that experience yet.

I run a mid-muffler (stainless Borla XR-1) and a twin tip RB catback, very mild for a single turbo. The RB is not significantly different in noise level as compared to the old Greddy Trust 3" straight thru catback. What I have learned is that it's not just a matter of more restrictive is more quiet, tuning is very important and some catback manu's have figured it out while others are welding up whatever muffler they have and selling them. Some are just LOUD and sound great, others are LOUD and sound like crap, etc. The ATR is a perfect example, it drones like crazy, sound is not inspiring, and it is LOUD.

I have heard the Apexi twin muffler setup without a midpipe and it was a nasty LOUD. In the same setup the HKS mild steel sounds great, the RB single or twin tip sound great ... no droning and mild at idle while screaming at full throttle. You are on your own for other combos.

I was at Pettit for a "dyno day" yesterday and I asked him to fire up the three-rotor Banzai (blue with silver stripes as it appeared in SCC) and was amazed. The thing was EXTREMELY quiet. Quieter than my two rotor sequential setup. I have a GReddy Power Extreme and a Pettit resonated midpipe. Not only was it quieter, but it was MUCH more soulful! Sounded incredible. I think I'm going to auction off a kidney :-)

Oh, forgot to mention his setup...he too had the "old" Trust exhaust before they became "GReddy" here in the states. And he had the resonated midpipe, same one they sell for the two rotor FD's.

I run a T-78 with a resonated mid pipe and a stock cat back and still put down 398 at the wheels @ 14psi. And it purrs like a bone stock car. I catch allot of Mustangs and Corvette's by surprise
