rx6 times
i'm planning on getting a rx6 kit from someone and wondering what kind of 1/4 mile times are expected with all bolt ons?
no, this won't be a drag car, so don't start preachin about that, i just want a single to eliminate the vacuum nest, increase power and just be a VERY nice, quick street car.
be back later, post away, please. thanks, roy

I got a friend that has a RX6 turbo on his car, he could only get about 13-14 seconds cuz he is smoking his tires (he needs slicks i think cuz that thing just puts out too much hp/torque for his current tires). I have not heard anything about about that turbo but i hear even better things about the GT35/40. good luck

I have that kit on a stock motor with no emissions and an M2 large intercooler and ran 12.50 at 113.9mph on my street tires (Nitto555 275/35/18). The weather that day was extremely hot and humid as well. My car made 355RWHP on the dyno @14.3psi. My car is also very un-tuned because my A/F dropped below 10.0 during the run(actually maybe lower, it went off the graph). I love the Apexi kit for the street, I can barely even tell there is any lag at all, compared to stock. Having a single turbo turbo kit on the 3rd gen is the only way I would own one any more. **** that twin set-up. Way to big of a headache, especially when someone sells a kit that makes more power and is just as responsive..

I have a Power Fc with Nippendenso fuel pump, 1300cc secondary injectors, 550cc primarys, ACT clutch with 12lb aluminum fly wheel. No emissions at all.
You must remember that the weather the day I ran that time was in the mid 90s and most importantly the humidity was also in the ******* 90s, which makes a **** combo for a forced induction car. Also my car is not tuned worth a crap, with proper tuning I should be able to make close to 400rwhp and with a cooler day and way less humidity and of course some drag tires I dont see any reason why my car shouldnt see the 11s. **** that Supra, they can be really fast, but you are only going to race him like once. So if you want to tear him a new ******* than get a T88, but after you **** him doggy style you are going to hate driving your car on the street. The Apexi kit is perfect for the street, and NOS is always available if you want to take the risk when you need it. I dont have NOS, to risky..

You won't make any more power with the RX6 than stock turbo's, maybe less. Your better off with something a bit bigger.....maybe a T04E or S or the GT series. If your gonna do it, do it right.

What I don't think anyone takes into account is that as you increase your peak horsepower, you turn the curve into more of a spike. May be great for drag racing, but if you ever want to be fast in a turn it's going to be hell. I personally think a great car should do more than go straight fast. After spending a day at the track with the RX6 I'm extremely impressed with how wide the powerband is. With sticky tires and a good driver, I bet you could give that Supra a whooping on the track.

The RX6 kit is now way overpriced IMHO. If I were you I would look at the GT35/40 kit from ASPEC. Jason from the RX7store can hook you up.
I installed one about a month ago. Lag? What lag, this BB turbo spools quick! I dyno this weekend.
BTW: Wade - what you doing this weekend? You should consider crusing to Columbus for the Advanced Imports / RX7Store Dyno days (Friday [tomorrow] 6pm- midnight, and Saturday 11am - 6pm)

I agree Wade, but I'm just saying when you go beyond the boost level where a turbo was designed to run, the efficiencies go down and you create more heat than you would otherwise be making.
Anyways, doesn't matter much, but I was just making the statement that I don't think you'll find all that many people TRULY making 350 with their STOCK twins (although I know you always hear big claims). The average Joe's happy when they finally get 300-320rwhp out of them. I know there'd be a few out there with the big numbers, but it's not common. I don't think anyone with an RX6 makes less than high 360's. Plus, I like getting rid of that whole sloppy transition area. Again, I know you could go non-seq, but that's not really necessarily stock twins anymore.
But I haven't had an opportunity to ride in a GT35/40 yet. Sounds like it must be a good-un!
Peace!

BTW: An RX-6 will make more power than the twins by about 30-50 rwhp on average..

Pound for pound of boost, I believe the RX6 is good for 40-50 more hp.
That said, I think the best STREET turbo available now is the GT35/40.

With all of the comments about stock twins making the same power as turbo"X", the simple point of reliability at that power level is often overlooked. Push the stock turbo to 15-18 psi and expect to reduce bearing life EXPONENTIALLY. So yes, the stock can be pushed, not that I ever have ;-) but is simplistic to say they are comparable to any but the most ineptly designed singles. And this doesn't even address the increase thermal load strees associated with the stock setup.
As for arguements that you can increase the efficiency of the stock by swapping out the (insert subcomponent here) I'll defer probabley ad hoc nature of such a design. Clear as mud!?
