Rx-6 Turbo Unit ?

Hi Guys,

What do we know about the RX-6 turbo unit ?? what power can it make?, what boost is it capable of holding safely ? what boost pressure can i run safely? and does anyone have power output data on this turbo running a streetported engine with the right fueling ?

Sorry for all the questions but want to learn about this turbo as it is fitted to my new FD

thanks in advance,

Gurj

Thanks for the links bro totally forgot to use the search engine, apologies

Good reading though, i had a T-78 on my previous RX7 which made 401 @ 0.6bar boost @ flywheel, not had the RX-6 dyno'd just yet as only just got the car a few weeks ago, looks like a interesting figure is approx 380rwhp or so ???

Good reading, thanks,

Gurj

No problem; i'm going to be picking up an RX-6 sometime soon so i've done research in those threads as well.

Depending on the rest of your mods and state of tune i'd say 340-400 around 15-16psi. I know one of those thread had actually dyno results with a mod list as well.

My rx is a circuit spec one and has been stripped and has the right mods to run decent power, only thing i have left to do is to get bigger secondary injectors in, but may wait a while as the fuel economy has been awesome so far really impressed so why ruin it straight away. The fuel costs in the UK are crazy thus we need to think MPG as well as power output

Thanks for the replies, 400rwhp is the amount i was wanting as anything more is not streetable, rx wheel spins alot now so will be interesting when the boost is increased, also looking to install WI this summer for cooling issues in the hot weather, once i have the mods done this will be a super RX for the street as i dont do track days or drag strips as dont want to ruin the car

I went for the more evil but understated look with this rx, my other one was a T-78 in Purple with gold graphics and gold wheels and more louder so to speak, this is more stealth

The T78 was kicking in approx 4500rpm whereas the RX-6 is deffo kicking in much earlier approx 3000rpm giving quicker response, just wasn't sure what power i can make with this unit.

Only other problem is the exhaust is too loud !!!! i mean when i drive past parked cars their alarms are being set off its that loud !!! need to change it for a silenced mid pipe section and see if its better

I have the rx6A on my car it is a good turbo for a street driven car since boost comes on early and smooth no sudden rush of power to upset the car on a turn
steve kan recently tuned mine and got 367hp 297tq at the wheel at 15lbs boost

Very good numbers there; that is the range i'll be looking for with 15psi.

my car has been streetported (racingbeat did my intake ports I just ported the exhaust to the edge of the sleeve)

Running the cosmo fuelpump with 550/1680 injectors and FPR

Also using apex front mount intercooler all the pipes fit without getting anything fabricated

Yes Sir, it was in Japanese Performance mag in the UK, a very nice quick car but wanted a change hence the change to this stealth rx7

Some pics of the Purple rx7 running the T78 setup, was a great rx and hopefully will see it again at some shows this summer , when i sold it there were readings of 7.5 / 7.6 / 7.2 on the rotors
