Running 2 FMIC's

Because of the high cost of most large intercoolers, I'm going to run 2 stock TII intercoolers. They will be front-mounted, but I don't know if I should run them in parallel or series. Does anyone have any idea (or real experience) which way would be better? I have no experience with intercoolers, which is why I'm asking.

Just run them in parallel and not in series so you don't get a huge pressure drop. A cheaper option woud be a Volvo 740 intercooler which you'd mount between your condenser and radiator. These flow pretty well, according to a few members on this forum, and you can pick one up pretty cheap (around $50 used).

I can get two TII intercoolers for $20. I've searched the junkyards around here, and none of them have any intercoolers in decent condition.

the ghettocooler method works well. some guys have welded three together.

It'd be easier to go with the volvo or the npr intercooler, though.

I would guess the stock FD intercooler would be better, but they are also much more expensive and harder to find.

You can pick up FD Stock intercoolers for 30 a piece all day long. I have one for sale for that.
Good luck man, I believe that as long as you have the psi in the manifold and the right intake temp, it doesn't matter how you get there. I've been a fan of getting a FMIC on ebay for 330ish, and using SS 180 bend exhaust piping for intercooler piping. Basically my entire front mount kit for 430-500 dollars. Either way though.

coldy. is better buying a NPR or a volvo intercooler that trying to join two turbo II or FD intercooler. yeah you can find them for 20 bucks but unless you know how to weld aluminum, is gonna cost you big bucks to weld them because is not easy to weld them and for that is better off getting a NPR or a volvo that you can find them cheap, specially the volvo IC

The welding is no problem. My dad is foreman at a big machine shop, welding is free

Coldy you are better off using the two Kouike IC's than the volvo IC. I believe that the volvo has like a 3 or 4 psi drop. And the Kouike IC's are brass not aluminium, so joining two of then will not be problem. You should remove the stock discharge tank really close to the core, to join the two together, and situate the two stock feed pipes so that they are situated diagnol from each other across the core. You will now have a very decent IC for a VERY reasonble price, even if you have to pay for the fabrication labor.
