LS7?...Nice!
If you do install the MP can you update this thread with the differences in exhaust note?
Thanks, D[/QUOTE]

Update per your request: Got the nur spec last weekend and brought it to the shop where my FD is at. Friend installed it, came back the next day, fired it up (this is with MP and nur spec catback), I noticed a significant change in Db's right off the bat as opposed to the Ti i had before in there. But still it was noisy and not quite satisfied. I then told him to bolt up the resonated mp from the guy going ls7. I wasn't sure what kind of resonated mp he was using, but it definately did not look like a magnaflow, the muffler on it was circular.

Came back the next day after work and again he fired it up. I noticed just a tad of a change in db's now with the resonated midpipe on. Exhaust note on idle was more of a drone like Goracer mentioned and is rather annoying unllike the throaty Ti i had on before. Back to point, I decided this will do for now as there isn't much time left before tuning with Kan this saturday. I still haven't taken into account that it is still idling at 1500 not warmed up yet, and the echo of the shop causing it to seem louder than it really is. We'll see how it goes once fully warmed and outside of the shop. Worse comes to worst i will have to get the silencer to shut it up but it just looks and that will be my last resort.

The nur spec catback on twins w/ resonated mp i heard before i purchased it used was much quieter vs. nur spec catback with an a-spec single turbo and resonated midpipe....I anticipated this but the difference is still significant enough to be noticed if you were to be at a stop light lined up with a popo next to you. This definately is above 95db's which i think is the limit in CA.

I think will get some pics soon and list the R-Majic Ti and midpipe for sale soon.
I really don't want to part with it though considering its pretty rare

If you want a quiet(er) car, just do it the right way: resonated midpipe *with a magnaflow muffler* in the center, and you're done. Problem solved.

whatever they installed on your FD at the shop sounds like a typical Pettit style res mp with a glasspack in the middle, I'm not surprised the car is still loud.

Thanks for getting back/ I have a Magnaflow Metallicat in the mail and I'm going to purchase the Magnaflow muffler once I figure out where to mount it.

or why don't you add a 200 cell metal cat onto the resonated midpipe. You get quiet and no smell. Or weld 2 metal cats to your regular midpipe, and there you have it.

What do you guys think of this?
As I said above, I'm installing the Magnaflow Metallicat into my solid MP and want to also add a high flow muffler in there as well. Being that there's not much room to install both a Cat and muffler, I was wondering what I should expect if adding this on the front half of the MidPipe and the cat on the back portion.

Check this thread on the Delta series muffler from Flowmaster:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Hopefully my car won't sound like Mustang lol.

I believe Max Cooper installed a cat and a muffler in the midpipe. The thread may be in the 3rd gen section.

sry to revive the dead,

Will a resonated MP, such as Pettit or Rx7store still allow flames to shoot out?? And if im switching from a HF cat to a MP (with restrictor plates for creep), would i need to retune the car, or would it work to just control the boost to the tuned level?
THnx

Yes, you can still shoot fire.

Yes, you'll need a retune.

Get the magnaflow piece from rx7store, not the overpriced glasspack version sold by pettit.

I just installed the round style magnaflow with a JIC Ti and it took the raspy sound out. Very happy with the results. I would guess the oval (that is larger also) would quite it done more but was not sure if it would fit..

Ive read that the Rx7store one muffls is alittle too much, almost the same as a highflow cat. Im gonna buy a used one, so which i find ill take, but is their a big difference between the pettit and rx7store as far as noise resonation?

What is gonna get thrown off when the mp is put on, timing? or boost? (why do i need a retune)
not that i dont believe you, just curious.

Yes.

Less backpressure, more exhaust flow, potentially more boost despite the restrictor plate. You'll need to get richened up a bit.

I think you read wrong. I ran a Bonez high flow cat (new) back to back with an RX7 store resonated mid pipe using the Magnaflow muffler. The resonated mid pipe was just slightly quieter, had better sound quality and allowed the turbos to spool much more quickly and now allowed boost to creep.

Overall, its OK for the price.

Final question...
IS the resonated midpipe from Rx7store or Pettit really quiter than my rx7store high flow?? I want my car to be louder, but not stupid loud which logically made me want a resonated mp. the pettit prob is louder than the rx7store mp, so im prob gonna get that now. but damn, im pissed its quiter....

Here is my solution and it worked very well. 90db @ 15ft away (legal max is 95db), 94db @ 10ft away on the C scale and something like 80db & 75db on the A scale but since it's so deep of a note if measured they would use the C scale.

What catback are you running? The magnaflow res mp is plently loud with a dp and the right cb.

Don't get the pettit glasspack, you may as well stick with a regular mp. Not only are they expensive, the glasspack blows out and then they really sound like ****. Ihor had one on his old single turboed silver FD, it blew out on him after a limited amount of use

i have a Greddy Sp1 catback. So the answer is that the rx7store res mp is quiter than my hf....wat other resonated mp are their that dont muffle the noise too much, other than pettit. Ill take goodfellas advice and stay away from pettit.

does anyone have a sound clip or can make a sound clip of their Blitz Nur Spec and RX7store RMP. I already have a Nur Spec, straigh mp, and 3' dp and was wanting to see how much of a difference their is between the straight mp and the rmp.
