rebuilt T78 smoking

I have just had my T78 rebuilt and re-fitted it. Before the rebuild it was leaking on the compressor side and was sending oil through intercooler into engine. there was no leaks on exhaust side. Now after refitting i have the same problem again. I am running a straight through to the backbox (no mid or cat) . I was also not running an airfilter just wire mesh cover. I'm also not running a Blow off valve at the moment. Could this be causing the turbo to stall and then oil is getting throught the seals as there is no pressure to retain it? I rang the guy who rebuilt it and he says he tested it before giving it back to me.

Why aren't you running a blow off valve? I don't think the t-78 has the anti- surge technology implemented onto it. When the throttle body closes, all the air is trapped and gets sent back to the turbine, causing it to surge, throwing it off balance and damaging the seals.
Running just a wiremesh over the turbo will suck a lot of unwanted debris, and foregin objects, while it's the maximum allowed airflow, put a filter on it.
There are setups that allow you to run without a blow and air filter and most of the time those are done at the track, i suggest you look into those.
