ran my T04E at the strip tonight

I spent about an hour last weekend doing some rough tuning on my new turbo setup to get it ready for a nice baseline run at the drag strip. On my first run, I ran an 11.64 @118 mph. Boost was at 15 psi. This is an almost identical time I ran with my seq twins and the M2 ecu. The only thing is I feel a whole lot safer with this setup because I know my A/F ratios and timing are safe. Here is my current setup:

Street ported motor
Garrett T04E with a 60-1 wheel
.6 comp/.96 turbine on center
Williams Manifold
Haltech E6K
550/1680 cc inj
M2 Medium IC
11.5 lb flywheel
UO underdrive pulley

I believe they are all the relevent mods

I'm going single too. Where did you get the injectors? I can get Bosch 1600's for about $95 a piece. What boost controller are you running? Also, is your ignition stock? I hear it should be able to handle 15 psi.

was that with slicks? Not bad Josh, after that baby gets fine tuned should shave a few 10ths off that time. MORE BOOST

I'd be interested in your driveline modifications as well. Differential? Slicks? Out of curiosity, what were your 1/8 mile times like with the sequentials when running 11.6's?

11.5 lb flywheel<-Great for autocross.
Sux for Drag Racing, even with your HP, I bet it bogs slightly on the launch or when shifting. Try a heavier one if 1/4 miles times are what you're after.

This was a concern when I first put it in but I honestly have not noticed a difference in my launches. As a matter of fact, my my best run before the light flywheel was an 11.7 and after the flywheel install I ran an 11.6. As long as I launch the car above 5500 rpms it does not bog at all. I don't really drag race that much anyway. Only a few times a year. I did switch back to the organic clutch this time and I'm beginning to think that was a mistake. I can smell that thing cooking after each run

great et - did you have a lot of wheel hop? I figure the hp numbers you are making would call for an upgraded PPF or Kaaz LSD. When you launch did it feel like the rear end was going to give out?

LOL! No, the diff did not feel like it was going to give out. I have been lauching on this setup for a few years now and it seems to be holding up. When it finally breaks I will go out and buy a Kaaz. I did not get any wheel hop either. I was running on slicks. I have never gotten wheel hop on slicks. I feel more comfortable launching on slicks because of the fact that it doesn't wheel hop.

Vosko- This is the same motor I overheated at mads.

ludeowner- I have not run the single turbo on street tires but I did run street tires with my seq turbos. My best time was a 12.2 @118 with a 2.0 60 ft. I get a lot of wheel hop with street tires so I prefer to run slicks.

Since this past weekend I have swapped turbos. It's still a 60-1 but this one is water cooled. I also put on a larger comp housing, .7 AR. I can feel a big difference in top end with about 200-300 more rpms of lag. I am planning on running the car again this weekend to see if I pick up any time.

I think there may be some internal damage. I find it hard to believe the motor survived that much abuse without any harm. I will wait till the end of the summer then possibly tear it down and replace all the rubber parts.... coolant seals, oil orings, etc.. I am considering looking for a source for teflon outer coolant seals. If anyone knows of any please PM me with the details.

For those of you in the dark on this, I ruptured a heater hose at mads and by the time I pitted there was coolant spraying out of all sides of my motor. I'd say she was a little hot! The engine miraculously sealed itself back up, I refilled it with coolant and kept on racing.

Yea, that's where I got my inner seals but I was looking into also getting teflon outer ones. Do you have a part number for the teflon outer seals?

I had a motor overheat while idling outside of my house--I forgot I had it on--for 45 minutes. All of the coolant was on the ground, but after I filled it and let it cool down it ran fine. I used that motor for 2 more years before I decided to have it rebuilt, and when I took it apart the seals were ok.
