Question about Turbo's

Dont flame me for this because I am just learning but woud there be a difference if you just had a Bolt on turbo kit that dident tap oil from your oil pan but just from a seperate resivoir like a modified coolant tank. What if someone wanted to put a turbo in there car but not touch the engine in any way by drilling holes into the oil pan and they just needed a quick and easy way to get a turbo in there.. Would that work or will there be drawbacks? This way you can make shure your oil is always at a good level, clean, ect.

Are you turbo'ing a currently non-turbo car?

If it is already a turbo car, you can use the existing oil feed/drain w/out tapping anything...

Sounds bad to me. #1 the oil volume would be small and would be saturated with heat in a quick amount of time due to small volume and it not going threw a oil cooler. #2 how is it going to be pumped? Your turbo is suspended in oil, this requires some positive pressure.

A seperate reservoir would have to very big with its own cooling system. It would be faster to tap in to the cars existing system. You can turbo an n/a easily. Make sure you don't boost too high, have a good way of controlling the fuel and timing, and don't detonate.
