Question...

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but someone who knows tuning can answer this without even thinking:
Right now, I have a '94 with a T66 and it runs rich @15psi which is where I keep it 99% of the time. There is also a 17psi setting (the 'high' boost setting on my profec B) that I don't use much but it still runs fine on pump gas. My question is, if the car is tuned for 15-17psi on pump gas but runs rich, is it possible to up the boost to... 20 or maybe a tiny bit higher if I run race gas and not have to change tuning? I know you'd need an aftermarket ignition system to run that high of boost in the first place but, is it possible to do, or do you need to retune the car for that specific PSI? Just something that has been on my mind. Thanks !

Well, you don't /have/ to retune. You could add some race gas and run 20psi. But you wouldn't know your AFRs. So, it might blow up, it might not. Feel like risking that?

Just a question... not saying I was gonna do it :-\ So umm, no, I don't feel like risking that. I have a gauge in my car telling air/fuel ratios but it's not by numbers, it's by lights... blue = rich, green = safe, yellow... etc

I don't run my car up at the track much and i was just wondering if it was possible. If it's that risky then I won't do it.

DO NOT RUN THAT CAR ON RACE GAS WITH THE CURRENT MAP!

You DO have to retune the haltech to run race gas. End of story.

Unless you feel like popping that engine so soon.

My suggestion to you. Run it at 17psi at the track and see how you fair. If you're truly not happy. Find a Haltech tuner, buy a laptop and get a race map on file and ready to load of you want to raise the boost.

Don't get too squirly without a Jacobs or similiar ignition either. You'll just blow out your spark if you raise the boost as is.

Don't forget to PM me if you have any questions about the car.
