PTE 3 5/8" Vband Flange- What am I missing

So I have a 6266 with the 3 5/8" vband discharge. I got the flange from the dealer, and it's listed as being compatible with a 3 or 3.5" tube. I slid my 3" 16 gauge tube into it, and this is what I see"

So what exactly am I missing here? Should I just try and flare the tube out? Fill the 1/8"+ gap with fill rod? Cut the flange down so the gap isn't so extreme? Find some mythical 3.5-3" stainless reducer?

Don't look like it fits to me.

You could fill that gap, but having that heavy a weld deposit in that application probably isn't a good idea.

I'd take the pipe to a muffler shop and have them spread it out to fit that flange.

looks to me like the pipe is spose to go on the outside of that so maybe a 3.5 definetly dont try and fill it it will warp the flange.

The 3.5" fits on the widest most lip. The 3" should touch the lip that's inside and higher. Have you measured your pipe?
