Exclamation Problems with my dual gate setup? Underboost.

Hey I just made a new manifold, and I went from single tial 44 to dual tial 44, and I upped from 3 in to 4 in exhaust. Also the intercooler pipe got about 4 inches longer.
Other than that nothing has changed. I used to run 13 psi with easy control over boost with my manual boost controller. I had a 7 PSI spring, I now have two 7 psi springs.
After I hooked everything back up the car will only go to 7 psi. I maxed the boost controller, still 7 psi. I unplug one gate completely and I get 8 psi.

What is going on? I think I'm blowing my gates open with exhaust?

I been think about running a hose from a boost source, to the tops of the wastegates with a checkvalve allowing only boost in. Anyone think this is a good idea or will work?

Are you using the side port with the manual boost controller or both bottom and top ports with the controller attached to the top? Have you tested for leaks?

If your running the boost controller to the top of each gates and having the lower portion of the gates attached to manifold vacuum then I say you either have a large leak somewhere (possible torn diaphram, bad clamping, bad boost controller, or no fire ring installed). All are just possiblilites. G/L and let us know what you find!!

As mentioned double check for boost leaks.

Are both valve rings installed on the wastegates? Check the wastegates at idle to see if they're closed. Post a simple diagram of how you have them connected.

If they're the MVR wastegates make sure you installed all the extra cap off fittings to the unused ports on the the wastegates. It's something simple...

Cap off unused ports? is that MVR only?
I do have my valve seats in.
My vacuum hose just goes from boost reference to MBC to lower wastegate port. The most basic way. I am planning on giving two port hook up a shot, but I had to order two extra fittings...

how do you have your lines hooked up to both gates? They should be hoiked up like this, Boost reference to MBC then from there have one hose t-off into 2 and run each hose into the bottom/side port of the wastegate. You leave the top ports open unles you are using a EBC.

Are you turning the manual boost controller clockwise to get boost? The way you have the manual controller installed it looks like you need to turn the controller counterclockwise.

MVS and MVR wastegates come with extra vacuum ports to aid in "flexibility" when running wastegate lines. It seems that you're holding boost so the bottom half is setup properly but the fact that you cannot increase boost is due to the missing "plugs" on the top half. Don't confuse the water ports for vacuum ports...

So running plugs on top is ok then? That sounds like it would help.

he doesnt have the newer gates, plugging up the top ports wont allow the diaprhams to open at all. unless using a ebc or a manual air bleeder MBC you must leave the top ports open.

I assumed he had the MVR's as I was under the assumption it was a "new" turbo manifold and the old 44's are hard to get.

Take some pictures of the wastegates so we can see what you did.

This might not contribute 100% to your problem but most if not all wastegates leak out through the bottom port internally. So you just doubled your leakage.

When you say you now have 2 7psi springs... are you saying 7psi per wg or 14psi per wg? If it is 14psi per wg. I would suggest unhooking the mbc and hook wg's directly.
