Problem, turbo hits shock tower. PIC...

Ok my T04R got stolen so I bought a R85 off of dee. I bought the t04r turbo kit when I did the conversion a while ago. Now I got my motor in, the rx7store supplies a SSAC manifold in there kit. So when I try to set the R85 on the manifold it hits a piece of metal by the shock tower. I included a pic, what should I do? Just cut the metal out so it fits? Push in the metal? Would really love to hear some input about this! Thank you guys...

If that piece of metal didn't stick out the turbo would fit fine... kind of sucks this is the only thing that I need to get done on the build. Also was told the fitting for the oil inlet was a -4 but it's not... ordered the inlet kit and the -4 fits inside of it.

Just take a small hammer and wrap it in a cloth and tap that shock tower in some. My turbo hit right there also(GT40R on an XSPower manifold from RX7Store) and I had Ray Wilson from PFSupercars just tap my shock tower in some. No biggie.

Dee E.

PS. As for the feed line, I don't know what to tell you there.

They make adapter fittings you will need to try parts store like parker fitting stores. A friend had the same problem on the tower and he just cut it off welded up and painted the engine bay, lambergni orange. Oh turbonetics sells a filter fitting that converts that to 4 an.

I would figure that metal would be hard didn't know if it'd be soft or now, I will give it a whirl though. Weather sucks right now!

You are awesome I will have to look into that, I made a thread about it a while ago. No one answered kind of gave up on the car, but now I just want it to get done, break it in, then get it tuned.

We notched it, cut the metal out where the turbo was hitting and fabricated a new piece and welded it to allow clearance.

Wow didn't now how many people have done this, glad i'm not alone. Yea I was going to cut it out, and shape a piece of sheet metal to it. Then have it welded on there.
