What are your goals? As a generalization a mid sized street port is all +'s, and no negatives. Expect a 20% improvement from a proper port job, and the ability to spool a moderately sized turbo more quickly, so I vote yes, do it. Carl

I recently replaced my stock motor with a ported motor. It definately feels a lot stronger and revs faster from 5500 up.

if you plan to rebuild the motor, go with a ported one. If your motor is running fine and still gets good compression, there is no reason to rebuild and port it. If you just get a mazda reman, i wouldnt pay someone to take it apart and port it. Its just too expensive. I have a stock reman on my car with a t78. I make 403 rwhp, it all depends on what your goals are and how much money you have to spend.
