Pop quiz
Can I drive my 3rd gen Rx7 with out the air intake elbow off. What I am asking is will the car operate at minimum without the elbow mounted on. No boost or any filter hooked up.

I have driven mine with an intercooler pipe coupler blown completely off. Zero boost, no filter.
It won't be fast, but it will run.
Don't intentionally run it like this (without a filter or without the elbow).

ummm...you can run it that way but it is certainly not recommended. Dirt, leaves, little rocks can all find there way to your engine without the use of some sort of filtering system.
