Piping diameter

What size piping do you guys use for your single set ups? Whats the outer diameter and how thick do you recomend?

Also whats the point of the hump in this...

2.5" is fine for ~500rwhp or less, more, and I'd go to three inch. The hump is for flexibility. I easily make 500rwhp with 2.5" IC piping. Carl

thats what i was thinking 2.5-2.75, Im shooting for much less than that 400 max and will never be running that much. Now the hump makes sense.

What about piping thickness? like 1mm or something?

The stock FD piping (and thus almost all aftermarket stuff like ICs, elbows, etc. for the FD) is 2.75". You want to avoid section changes where possible. Many turbo compressor outlets are 2.5".

Give us some options for thickness and we will be much more able to help you choose. Where are you buying from? What thicknesses are available? Failing that, I recommend 0.883423478238423681320439454354354365618032758498 mm wall thickness.

the fitting is called a bulge fitting coupler. It does two things normally.. first off a curve or done handles pressure much better then a flat surface so bulge fittngs where you have gaps in your pipe connections is a better chioce on higher pressure tubes. also bulge fittings hae some ammount of flexability, a single bulge is not really good enough if your looking to it, to adsord engine torque between two fixed pipes ( engine /body ) but a 2-4 bulge fitting is perfect.. stay away from silicone that has no polyester or glass reinforcment in it... even a single layer is emmesly stronger then just 100% slilcone.

try to keep IC piping the same diameter at least as your TB if your using aluminum, then a std. tube size of 3" x.065/68" nominal wall 6061-T6 is good for just aobut ANY setup..

yes, bigger diameter piping has more volume= the turbo has to fill it, so it might take a little bit longer depending on which turbo you have...

www.kineticmotorsport.com is very popular up here.. i have a friend that works there....

I think the 2.5" is rated higher because Ernie T is making over 600rwhp with the greddy elbow. It's inner diameter is 2.5".

I think the plan is now to run 2.5 piping all the way to the elbow since my intercooler outlet pipes are 2.5 as well and just run a reducer from the elbow to the 2.5 piping. Im thinking ATPTurbo.com for all my supplies unless you guys have any other recomendations.

thanks again
