In my attempts to find the ultimate turbo for the FD I came across the GT42 and the kit that Magnus has put together… here are the pics that he sent me. Enjoy. if it's a street only car there's no reason to get a turbo that big, imo. to get the most out of the boost that thing produces you'll need race gas anyway. please you'll need an overly agressive port job to get the most out of that thing. if it's a street only car you won't need nor can you handle that much hp anyway so why introduce the extra lag over the gt3540, which when tuned right can get well over 500rwhp.

Well, I am still considering the GT3540, and was almost sold on it till I saw the GT42. I know it is one big ****, and will have more lag than the GT3540 but **** it seams like the road that I have in mind for it, the spare motor that I am building, are calling its name.

You know...for those of you that want a lil more oooompfh than the 3540 there are 3542's and also a shop in australia that did that crazy *** **** Mario's car (1300+ whp R33) made some custom 3542's with larger compressors.

whats is that used for?...Actually i seen bigger...if anyone remembers the turbo issue of super street where the guys was standing next to a turbo and the other guy on top of it...it said somthing like 35,000 hp or something.

Paul, whose car is pictured there, could not be happier, He is running the larger exhaust housing than the one on the race car. He has moved up from a T-66 p trim with .96 A/R. His first impressions were the car feels lighter at cruising and lower rpm (due to the decrease in backpressure giving more low load torque) And it no longer stops pulling in the upper rpms, it will continue to pull forever.

The above picture from http://www.exvitermini.com is not a Y2K, its based on a Garrett TA45 turbo. The Y2Ks never came out with that sort of compressor cover.
The GT42 is far too big for a street 13B. 20B on the other hand.....

Sorry you are wrong, Our GT42 does not use the standard exhaust housing. the divided exhaust manifold to a divided tang exhaust housing, plus the twin ball bearing design ensures that boost response is faster than any other turbo I have used. Is the GT42 available with an undivided tangential standard sized exhaust housing? I'm looking for something like this for my 20B FC. Looking for somewhere in the .96 - 1.15 a/r, but it must be undivided. If you have any other undivided housings, I may be interested as well.

How's the lag? I bet the boost response is quick with the GT42 as it may be with the GT3540. However, lag is what most folks are concerned about.

Another person mentioned getting a GT3542. Why a bigger compressor wheel? Why not a GT40 or a GT4042?

That particular Turbo is the large exhaust housing model.
We went out for some roll on tests just now.
listen carefully:
From a roll starting at 1000 RPM in 4th gear, full boost at 3700 - 4000(14psi) 7 psi by 3000 RPM.
this is a mild street ported engine.
