Only one intake runner coated with oil. Smoking on high revs only.

Recently got my first FD. First thing I noticed it smokes (light blue)if I rev it high at while the car is at standstill . However, at low revs it does not smoke or very little. There was oil in the I/C piping and intercooler so I suspected the twins. I then replaced the with a GT 40R but th problem persists only that now the I/C pipes are clean.

I happened to pull off the UIM and found that the intake runner closest to the fire wall was very oily. The three others were dry. Do you think this assiciated with the smoking problem?

If the the rear rotor was the source of the oil should not both runners leading to the rotor be oily?

I already removed the PCV hose to the UIM.

Please assist in diagnosing the problem

Honestly the oil that you are seeing was probably there before.

If anything all your pipes would be lined with oil.

ya, most likely it was residue from before. If you have the chance, take off your upper and lower intake manis, clean them (maybe put in some block off plates while you're at it). Drive the car for a month or so and then check it again. If it's oily again, then your engine is puking oil, if it's dry then it was from your twins.

if its only one runner, its probably an oil controll ring.
if you're still curious, you can try my method: https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/ever-wondered-damn-all-smoke-coming-my-motor-turbo-793269/

Rear rotor lower secondary intake only? Could it be sucking in oil from your brake booster line? I'm not an FD owner, so I don't know if the brake booster line is "T-ed" off to another possible source for injesting fluid. Check all vac lines that plumb only to the rear rotor secondary intake runner. Also, its only smoking at high rev's, sounds like oil to me cause oil pressure builds on RPM and not load based.

Thanks for the advise guys.....Whats really strange is that only the rearmost runner is oilly and when I say oilly I mean oilly. Are there any oil injectors in the IM? could it be coming from a faulty oil injector?

To the original poster, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT do what this guy did, its is dangerous to the turbine wheel, and to the compressor. the turbine wheel not turning means that its geyting heat directed at one side only, good chance to heat warp something, if the jerry rigged crap on the compressor housing had slipped and it started turning the chances of eating a compressor wheel are high.

philiptompkins, until you learn to work on engines properly please do not post or offer any informaiton to people who are learning, they will end up damageing their motors or worse.
