Oil Drain Idea - Y fitting?

With people saying a 10AN is too small and everything coming in 10AN I am wondering why is is that noone uses something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....m=350252874686

And then uses the two 10AN oil drains to the two OEM drains? Would this eliminate the need for a Catchcan?

Because a -12 line fits right over the OEM oil return tube after you cut the flange off? Bigger has got to be better, right? You only need one drain line and you would have serious logistical problems routing the second drain line around the manifold to the rear drain location, keeping it running down hill and away from the heat.

This also won't change your need for a catch can, if you do in fact need one. The catch can allows you to vent the block. Has nothing to do with catching the oil that comes from the turbo.

Sorry for forgetting about this thread.

I remembered Elliot writing something about recommending the use of 12AN.

I ended up going with 10AN because I will be using the secondary turbo oil drain for a Damian style catch can mod.

-12 AN is the proper size for a journal bearing turbo. -10AN works just fine for Ball bearing. -10an will work for your turbo...

I had a -10AN on my bush turbo for 2 years. Turbo was like new when i took it off after seeing 30psi for a long time. Ive had the roller on now for 1.5 years and its got -10AN return as well and is still mint running 30psi+.

All the stories of return lines not being enough etc or always turbo repairers or manufacturers making excuses for premature failures of turbos to get out of warranty. at least from what i have seen.
