oil "cooled" turbos
im using a turbonetics t67 that only has oil flowing through it and without much effort, it will glow red. even while cruising. im wondering if anyone with oil only turbos have a similar situation.
Even lean cruise can see a turbo glowing hard. Especially if ignition is retarded.
I had a mate with a locked dizzy s5 turbo, used to have a glow on most times we pulled up.

Do you have EGT sensors to monitor EGT's?
Even if you do not have a EMS that can make decisions based on EGT values, EGT's can help diagnosis all sorts of strange issues, especially when you have a baseline of what they were before they changed and of course the tune is untouched.
Have you checked your trailing plugs and/or plug wires?
I have personally seen my EGT's sky rocket when I had a bad trailing plug wire in the rear rotor which was undetectable as far as how the car idled/ran and power felt 100% fine. Turbo was glowing after extended cursing as well. EGT's in the rear rotor sky rocketed, which is why I knew where the issues was. First thing I did was switch the front trailing plug with the rear since the front was 100% on point. Next I built a new rear wire since I had left over and everything returned to the way it as before. Testing the bad rear plug wire gave no indication that it was bad at all by the way.

i dont have an egt gauge....
the funny thing about this is that this started after i changed my plugs to new plugs. it seems as though my arrogance has gotten the better of me in this situation in the fact that i am assuming my ignition system is not to blame and i really WANT it to be a tuning issue. i still havent taken anything to inspect, other than rechecking the plugs and the installation of the wires. i will get down there and inspect all of my ignition soon. having you say your car ran fine even though you had the issue you had puts some doubt in heart about my situation as my car also runs great other than the cherry turbo....

They are the most likely point of failure when ignition components are removed and replaced. At least it is a fairly inexpensive check and possible fix to switch then out.
Way worth the money to try new wires then possible engine damage or melting stuff in your engine bay.
