noob turbo question

i'm a noob to the rotaries but am willing to learn..i was hoping you guys could teach me. yes i am 15, but i'm not as ignorant as most of them. :p and if u have any questions on 240sx's, i could answer half of them

i have found out that most of you guys convert from twin turbos to single turbos. this is because the twin turbos are sequential right?? i haven't seen any non-sequential twin turbo set ups.. did i just not look hard enuff?? if so, could u post some pictures or links?? thanks a lot guys

To make a long story short....

The stock twin sequential turbos are controlled by a very complicated mess of solenoids and vacuum hoses. When everything is working fine, they are a very nice setup. When things go wrong, they can be difficult to get working right. Some people convert the sequential twins to non-sequential to avoid some of the problems that can come up when a vacuum line cracks open or a solenoid fails.

If a person wants more power than -around- 325 rear wheel horsepower, it starts to become easier to just ditch the stock twins because they are so small and go with a single large turbo. Yes, you CAN make 350 or even 400 rwhp with the stock twins but it is difficult to do. The majority of people with stock twins run out of 'juice' around 325 rwhp or so.

Pretty much nobody replaces the stock twins with larger twins because it's just not worth all the hassles of getting twice as much junk crammed in the engine bay. Some people DO put 1999 spec stock twins on their 1993-1995 car though. Also there are a few people that have the stock twins machined to make better top end power.

a special kit was made by bnr and is on a certain car in middle tennessee, brian. i do agree with how ridiculous it would be to put larger twins in there. the car that has these twins has some pics on the forum. he wanted it to look stock so he REDID everything in order to gain that effect. it simply looks like a modified 3rd gen engine bay. now, how many people could do that? . . . i only know of one, personally.

thats another reason i wanted single. haha.
