No Parts Available for GT Series Turbos!

I recently put an apex seal though my brand new GT40 turbine wheel (its a true GT40, not a GT compressor on a T-Series turbo). Luckily TEC is planning on repairing it (hopefully soon).

According to TEC in CA and Diesel Injection Service (locations all over US) both say that Garrett is not selling parts for the GT series turbos. I had the option of buying an entire rotating assembly ($510) or another turbo ($900).

Has anyone heard anything on this? It seems absurd that it would be more difficult (if not impossible) to get parts for the newest line of turbos rather than the older T-Series line.

I was told the same thing. The turbine wheel, shaft, and center section come as a single unit. If you damage the wheel you basically have to rebuy the entire turbo less a few parts.

I've been saying that for awhile. I have access to some stuff luckily for me but for the most part you have to buy a rotating assembly.

I've heard the same from my turbo builder. In fact I don't ask anymore, because he gets angry at Garrett and goes on a rampage. I don't blame him though...It's really BS.
