NHRA says we need scatter shields if we're running faster than 11.99, Question!
Can we bolt a cheap summit racing SFI flywheel shield on and be legal? Anyone know if a transmission blanket is required too?
Is this correct? What are you guys using?
Also, looking at the nhra rules. It looks like a aftermarket bellhousing might be required for 11.99-10.00.
I want to be legal for 10.99-10.00

Scroll down about a third of the way and look for page 34 section 6. Its under the drivetrain section. Hope it helps with your question.

Anyone know if a tranni blanket is needed?
So, this shield is the only thing that's needed?

I don't need a tranni blanket too?

PP is more of the concern and im sure that metal has saved someone from lossing a foot so that why they made it a rule. From past experiences they dont look very hard at the scatter sheild, just make sure its there.

Anyone know who else sells the scatter shields?

Spi 6 rated, so you dont need a scatter shield since the housing is rated itself....

Been talking with Tony from http://www.theracingstore.com/drv_scatter_shields.html . He's fabbing me up a bolt in scatter shield for my 3rd gen ($275). It has to be made of 1/4 inch steel to be NHRA legal so no alluminum
Also, no tranni blanket needed. They're only used for automatics.

I got my scatter shield from Tony @ theracingstore.com fits like a glove. There was a tab on top of the bellhousing that needed to be cut off to fit but that took all but 5min to take off and grind smooth. This was on a turboII transmission don't know if the 3rd gen transmission bellhousing is different. Tony is a great guy to deal with and a good friend of one of my good friends. I buy almost all my stuff from him. He will go out of his way to help you out.
