NGK R6725-105 spark plugs

anyone use these? I've posted a thread in the 3rd gen but it seems no one is interested or have never used it.

I came across it reading some of the Japanese owners' pages and I found that they sell it at rx7.com and mazdatrix also. Has anyone used these? this is a single electrode plug so I think it would give a more precise timing.

tks,
David

I have used those and found them excellent for racing, however I have also used the B10EGV and they perform as far as I could tell to the same std as the "full" race plug at a fraction of the cost.

The RA series should not be used with high lead fuel such as aviation gas as they ground and center electrode do pick up a lot of depositis from the lead.

tks rice racing, you are right the R6725 are quite pricy...what's the difference between the b10egv and the R6725? they both use the single ground electrode? what other difference is there? is the B10egv shorter?

a good place to get them is http://www.monarchproductsinc.com/ngk.htm
they have pretty much everything that's available out there, good prices too, I think.

TKS!

B10EGVs are made by NGK also, they are also racing plugs.

Mine just arrived today, the ceramic seems to be a little shorter than the BUR plugs but the electrode portion is the same length.

Rice racing, what should I use as gap on these? I know there was a thread about it before but there seems to be a mess up between the metric and english system. Can you tell me which is correct?

tks!
David

PS I will try the regular and the B10EGV when I tune the power FC on a dyno and report back if there was any difference.

thats a reasonably cold plug. Anyone have problems with them fouling during "normal driving"?

Do I need an upgraded ignition system to drive colder plugs? I'll be running a single @ 15-17psi ~430RWHP.
Thanx!

I have 9s now...seems to be ok...I'll be running the 10s daily drive, so I'll report back on how well it works. I've heard that some ppl run 10s all the time without trouble, but I don't think they see winter weather.

no you don't need iginition upgrade, the colder plug just dissipates heat more than the 7,9s.

umm ok I tried to install the B10EGVs today...how do you tighten it? the plug is a little shorter so the nut part is in the engine block so I can't get to it with my socket...Rice racing, how do you tighten it??

tks,
David

gap plug to 0.02 .... you will need a special socket or turn normal one down on a lathe or grind down the lip on the block to get them to tighten up. You can do it without doing this but you will hate it ....
