The Apex'i turbos you are talking about are abraided turbos. That is the final clearancing is done with the first spins of the compressor/turbine wheels. That will give you a tighter tolerance than you could've EVER hoped for with standard technology clearancing. Plus it will continue to clearance itself through the life of the turbo. (i.e. with shaft play it will re-clearance itself)
it may "reclearance" itself, but it still leaves the gap where the wheel USED to reside, so it actually gets worse with damage through the life of the turbo.

This is VERY WRONG. That turbo is not the same as the T04R, please don't think you got the same thing if you purchased from them.

The site says T04/T04R or something. They then list the compressor as 66.5 when in fact the T04R has a 66.7mm compressor GT series compressor meaning better efficiency. Not the old school blade design Perhaps they just mislabeled the compressor dimension, but I would be careful.

Additionally, the real T04R has GTQ turbine wheel. They list theirs as comming with a P or Q trim... That's NOT T04R. The GTQ wheel again is new Garrett technology stated to flow like a Q and spool like a P. This is HUGE to the performance of the turbo systems as a whole. The GTQ wheel is usually a $300-$400 option.

For some specs on the T04R checkhere

Or you can look here for specs of other turbos as well.

Anyway, as I said at the beginning of this thread, I have a BB T04R that I had custom made, and the cost was about half of HKS's price with my 4" V-band attached.

The turbo advertised at Cheapturbo.com may work well, but it's not a T04R (it only has the compressor wheel... maybe) and I'd put money that it doesn't perform like one either.

www.precisionte.com makes a direct copy of the T04R utilizing the GTQ wheel, and soon to have a GTP wheel. It is listed as 66.7mm and has made over 700rwhp on many supra's. It however is not dual BB
