New Precision turbo CEA turbine wheels?

Just wanted to see if anyone else has seen these new turbine wheels that Precision turbo is putting out?

Pulled from precisions website.

http://www.precisionturbo.net/news/P...s-Announced/95

"PRECISION TURBO AND ENGINE has announced the addition of all new, ultra high-flow CEA (Competition Engineered Aerodynamics) turbine wheels to their current product line.

Specifically engineered to produce massive power gains over older turbine wheel designs, usage of Precision’s new CEA wheels typically results in an average increase of 30-45 horsepower over comparably-sized standard designs. Furthermore, spool-up time is improved when using PTE’s CEA turbine wheels to further reduce turbo lag.

Precision’s current 62mm turbine wheels will be replaced by the new 62mm CEA version whereas the current 65mm turbine wheels will be replaced with a newly-developed 66mm CEA wheel. Utilizing an enhanced design, the new ultra high-flow turbine wheels will come standard on all of Precision’s 62mm and 66mm turbochargers that also feature the exclusive CEA compressor wheels, both ball-bearing and journal bearing versions, including the 5862, 6262, 6266 and 6766 units.

Additionally, all current turbine housing offerings will be available with the new CEA turbine wheels.

Similar in concept to PTE’s CEA compressor wheels which are machined from a 2618-aluminum forging for added strength, higher efficiency, faster transient response and maximum performance, Precision’s CEA turbine wheels offer unparalleled performance and the best “bang for your buck”.

The cutting-edge technology found in Precision Turbo and Engine’s CEA turbine wheels and CEA compressor wheels is unlike anything else on the market today. PTE is committed to keeping racers well ahead of the competition by constantly innovating and engineering the most powerful turbos possible. "

pricing seems to be very resonable on these from what I have seen on some other supra / evo forums.

the normal questions apply... how and why does it work; what kind of supporting data can they supply to back their claims?

true precision doesnt really put up compressor maps. from what i have read they do all their work through cad and computer research. fwiw it does work i have a billet 6765 and i love it. by far best turbo i have had or have worked with. makes tons of power and spools great. i may look into the 6766 cea one day. my car makes 525whp on 27psi, takes down 1000cc bikes no problem and traps 140mph. i also have made 591 whp on my billet 67 that im saving for next year so they do work. you notice a big differance once they hit 20+ psi.

I'm not an aero guy, but the picture seem to say a lot.

The finned center cartridge is a nice touch too.

Very similar blade design. Just looks thinned out and more refined.

Looks like a very mild back cut to me. A mild back cut and a 1mm larger and lighter turbine would probably explain the claims of slightly better power and spool.

The root of the leading edge shows a huge difference in thickness and profile.

I have ran two 6765's and now have a 6766. I can definitely say there is no difference in response between the 2. Can't really feel a power difference between the 2 but I did have to add a hair more fuel up top so I can assume it has more topend. I haven't taken it over 17 psi though as my water injection is broken and thats probably where the bigger wheel will show itself.

The wheel looks like the earlier generation wheels looked, especially in the T3 turbine wheel sizes, at least as far as the blade root thickness.

well i talked to precision today and he swears about the 6766 upgrade . as matter of fact he said dont do a 6768 stick to the 6766 its flows and makes more power he said. so i guess they r stickin to there guns on this new cea wheels. I myself have the DBB but have a .84 a/r so im thinkin of doin the 6766 with a .96 a/r upgrade
