Ball-bearing? If so are you running a restrictor?

Down time is not two months, down time is anywhere from one week to three weeks, I have had turbo's sit at many different turbo houses for longer than that. What I probably told you was I've seen it take as long as two months on certain turbo's if parts aren't available and I wanted that to be made clear up front. You may have your turbo back in one week plus shipping time we wont know until they have it in their hands.

1. Make sure your oil lines circulating in the right direction.
2. make sure the oil is dumpimg into the oil pan and not cloged.
3. bad turbo.
4. bad rebuilt oil control seals.

I'm a little unclear....smoke coming out of the tail pipe or off the actual turbo exhaust housing? what color is the smoke? might just be a loose v-band or something..

Please next time don't spray carb cleaner on hot parts like that. Carb cleaner is extremely flammable...

Sounds like a defective cartridge or that you've been babying the turbo too much. I've had a couple 42r's smoke due to extended idling. The remedy honestly is to boost the turbo to put pressure on the seal. Try boosting the car for 5 miles; not continuously though

I have seen turbos smoke for many reasons and doesn't mean the turbo is bad. Loose drain fitting will cause it to smoke, crimped oil return line, no restrictor etc.. Make sure its the turbo.

yea it might not even be the turbo man. Check your Coolant level in the motor... And when its cool...check shaft play and see if the wheel spins freely..
I know you said it's white smoke but are you running a restrictor in the oil line?
and lastly, do you have a PFC? or is there any tune on the car currently?

I'll give your setup a look-over and I'll surely pinpoint the problem. I'm in Olivebridge, zip code 12461 for reference. PM me for my shop address if interested...

Phil, give me a call sometime this week, you're welcome to drop the car off at IRP when you come to pick up the steering wheel and strut tower bar

Perhaps the OP doesn't have a proper map yet. I would really suggest this before tearing the CHRA out. If I had one dollar to my name I would place the bet on this being the issue ASSUMING that he has the .035" restrictor.

I had told him to do this before tearing down anything. It should be a .060 as that is what we send out, rarely if .060 isn't available I will send out the .035.

Where are the vents for the housing oil nozzles connected?

They should be vented to the air filter (or atmospheric pressure).

Just to point out white smoke usually is from antifreeze, and tons usually means bad housing seals. mystery is your water level is fine.
