need advice on going single

I'm deciding between the greddy td06 and the XS Engineering td04e both are on the rx7 store for about 3k. I just need to know the differences and which one is the better deal.

They will both make very similar power, with the XS kit maybe being capable of more power. I would look at the XS kit over the Greddy simply because it uses a Garrett turbo (not a Mitsubishi like the Greddy), which is much more readily overhauled/rebuilt/modified by lots of turbo shops in the US. Plus the XS kit comes with a bov.. not sure if the Greddy does.

I have the XS T04e kit. KDR installed it and he said it was the easiest single turbo kit he has ever installed. Everything fit and it included everything needed. I called XS yesterday and they said if I had the right fuel, tuning etc I should be able to run up to 25psi.

I did a test with my Profec B set for 20 psi. I had 100 octane. I floored it in 5th gear and at 2500rpms I had 5psi boost, at 3000rpms I was at 13psi boost, at 3500 rpms I was at 20psi boost. I think that is pretty good.

In the spring when it gets warm I will load 110 octane and try 25psi.

Hope this helps.

I'd put my stock twins up against the TD-06! Definately look into the T04E or the 35/40 if your budget allows.

I also have the T04E from XS. The kit was super easy to install and I really like the power and lack of lag from this turbo. I think it is a great street turbo and it is capable of some good power ranges.

efiniracing, I kinda agree with Marshall. TD06 does not have enough pack of punches to beat the T04E. The t-78, however, will have higher top end output than the to4s. The only other difference will be the oil feed line
xs oil feed line is smaller. I know the to4e & s are smaller than t78 but i guess this is why the t78 is prone to have oil leak.

T78 also has more lag than a T04S.

Local RX-7 club is planning a dyno day in the spring. I'll find out then. Have not been driving my car for sometime now. It's been below zero F here in MN lately.

Here's Dave comments when I asked him what turbo kit my brother should get for his FD.

Mine is the XS T04e kit.

Hey Ken...my turbo choices are yours and the garrett t35/40...best buy far...hope this helps..dave@KDR

When Dave was dyno tuning my new engine that he rebuild his dyno broke. He could not go over 6krpms due to new motor. Before it broke he got 320rwhp at 5.5krpms and 300lb torque at 3k rpms at 12psi.

We'll see what it does in the spring on our dyno day with WI, 110 octane and 25psi boost.

What do you think it will get?

Ken
