Need advice on which comp. to rebuild my turbo...Comp Turbo vs. Majestic Turbo
Hello everyone. I recently bought a used ITS GT66 dual ball bearing turbo kit from Cloud9.
After doing some research, there are two companies I'm thinking about, Comp Turbo and Majestic Turbo.
Comp Turbo was created by previous employees of ITS.
Majestic Turbo has a good reputation from all of the people on this forum who gets their turbo's rebuilt.
My question is who should I choose? The company that has former employees of the turbo I own or go with a reputable shop that probably will do an excellent job?
Price seems to be the same so that doesn't matter.
Thanks in advance!
Mike

I know it isn't on your list, but just because you are from Washington I would recommend NOT to use Turbo Technology, or cheapturbos.com, I have very bad experiences with both.

Your going to have to use a company with ITS former employees, as the ITS full ball bearing CHRA's are proprietary and no one will have the correct parts for them unless you just re-use the compressor and turbine housings and go with a new Garrett BB CHRA (They wont rebuild, only spec wheels and a CHRA for you).
ITS made GREAT stuff.

Not sure which way I should go still. The previous owner/designer of the turbo that might charge more, the former employees who might carry parts but unsure of their expertise, or the other company(Majestic Turbo) that just rebuilds turbos in general and has a good reputation.
Dilemas dilemas...

Decided to go with the former designer/owner of ITS since he seems pretty knowledgeable. Better to have it done right with higher costs than go with someone who's cheaper with the possibility that you'd have to do it all over again later.
Thanks everyone.

Called Rick at Exile Turbo Systems and it looks like the shaft for the compressor it at the maximum for allowed tolerance and the compressor wheel needs to be replaced.
Hopefully it won't be too costly.
I'll show pics of it once I get it back. I'm so excited but so much to go before I can install it (clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, clutch bearing, rebuild transmission, gaskets, etc.).

Just talked to Rick yesterday and he said it looks really good. No issues with the turbine wheel, the bearing's are very smooth. Can't wait 'till I get it back.
Still have to fix where my coolant is leaking (most likely the stock turbos) but I'll have to jack it up and take a look. Woohoo!
