I believe I locked time at 0 and matched the -5 timing mark up. Could be wrong, it was years ago..

***DING DING DING DING***

if you did it that way, your timing is 5* delayed from where you think it is.

lock your timing at -5, THEN line up the mark. (the k can lock at -5, it just can't run that way in the ignition map)

make sure you retune the car after this though.. and get an egt!!

It might have been done this way, but I can always recheck. I did it in accordance to the Hitman process.

i have no recommendations unless i was there tuning it myself, other than make sure the timing is properly zero'd, and get an egt, or knock sensor.

hell, grab a mechanic's stethescope at harbor freight for $5 and run extra long vacuum line so you can listen to the engine during dyno pulls.

it's taking him roughly 4-5psi more to get the same hp as most other guys. something's not right with the setup. could be as simple as timing too far retarded--coool. won't blow anything up, but the turbine and exhaust system won't like it. it just pays to double check and be sure.

hey, my first gen renny pj car is probably gonna get 30+ mpg. but that's with a new engine that's a lot more efficient than the older ones...not to mention the car is about 600 lbs lighter than a t2.

I run an MSD Knock Alert

yea. the thing i'd be worried about with this is if there's a problem somewhere, how long will the motor last?

what's the rest of the setup like? intercooler, exhaust, etc...

That whole area area of the map is set up as an "overboost" area afrom back when Rat was running the bolt-on BNR and said he'd NEVER run 20+ psi. We haven't spent any appreciable time up there because of the 94-98% IDC's make things rather risky.

13* of timing
12* of split
AFR's in the high 10's
stock port

Of course power is going to be down. It isn't even close to optimized.

i think its gearing, but with a stock ecu, the rx8 has a hard time getting 23mpg. whilst the vastly superior 1991 mazda rx7 coupe automatic easily gets 23+ going 5mph faster on the same bit of road.

damn 10's with alchohol? I thought you could run a bit leaner with alchohol and 10's are just way to rich.

Either way, 400whp is cool--and the fact that there's more to be had is even cooler.

you can run a bit leaner depending on how much you are mixing. The AFR's for methanol/alcohol are different than say 91 octane. I run 18psi and my AFR's are all 10's and 11s. It runs stupid, stupid rich... but I know I'm not going to lean out and chunck a seal. lol

true that! I was having slight bucking and **** though on my bnr stage IV when I got to the 10's. So with low 11's it cleared it right up. I'm not sure with bigger turbos though you may need it and may work just fine running 10's. I guess i will see when the t61 goes on my car
