Yup, that's my engine. Maybe I should go take a picture before it finds its way into the car.

rotar_dee: im currently in the market for a large single turbo kit and ive been eyeing the ball bearing HKS T51R KAI kit. my rx7fashion FMIC requires me to have the turbo outlet pipe end in the same location as the efini y-pipe in order to work with my setup. from what ive seen this R85 kit comes with no piping and i will be required to fab my own. can this be done on your side in order to ensure a bolt on kit?

also is the R85 turbo ball bearing? if so how will it spool compared to the BB T51?

im looking to order within the next week so prompt responses will be appreciated. please email me at cpogan157@rogers.com

I've never seen the dyno sheets with the stock intake manifold....does anyone have that one? Can someone post it? I've been wondering how much difference that made. I always felt like it was hard to compare this turbos dyno results with other turbos results due to the aftermarket intake manifold that was used on the dyno sheet I've seen. I'd really like to see the sheet with the stock upper intake manifold. Also...what octane gas was it being tuned with?

Demetrios - People might question some things, but its just because they are wanting to make a informed decision and are trying to make the best comparison they can between different kits. As for the people that really are hating, I wouldnt worry about them to much man.....I think you have the respect of everyone that matters

pardon me if this question is redundant or stupid.

I am curious. Maybe down the road i may bump up to a T85.

Just wondering if a Apex PFC would be sufficient to to run and
get big numbers out the T85. OR would something like a Motec,
Haltech, Tec3 needed???

In short. Would my T78 set up, able to support the T85??

the pfc will be fine. you have more precise adjustments with the wired in units ie:tec, helltech...

As stated, the PFC will do just fine. Yes, the Tec 3, Haltech and Motec have more tuning points, but unless you plan on racing for a living the PFC will be more than fine for you.

Any comments on the stratospheric redline for the dynos on the website? Any ideas how this turbo will do on a regular 8k stock/streetported motor?

Thats the first mild streetport I've seen spun to 9300 rpm thats all. It seems to peak a little higher than most. Nothing wrong with it, just curious -power from 4.5 to 9.5 is awesome.

Thumbs up

Demetrios does wind the hell out of his motors. Most tune to about 7500-8000, but hell if your still making the power, it can't hurt!

Demetrios what happened to the florida tuning deal

its already out of the question I just would have liked you to get back with me
I sent you an email the minute I got off the phone with you with all of my mods like you asked.

I wish you guys luck on this turbo. it blows my mind when I see how much power its making youde think its on a 12cylinder engine. I cant stand lag in my daily driver so it was not even a consideration but the crazy high hp is always fun for those weekend cars.

good luck everyone and keep those engines tight!!

Two hurricanes hit florida that weekend so I did not drive down to race at the hurricane nationals.

Since KDR has fucked around me constantly on what turbo to run I have yet to buy a kit yet but was pretty settled on a T78 until I read this thread. So I guess I have a couple questions...

First what is the lag like? On a large street port when can I expect full boost?
Second, will I be able to achieve 450rwhp+ on pump gas?
Third, this might be the most important since I want to put the car together soon, how fast can you get it to me?

Thanks for your time.
