I've been buried in work for the past few weeks, the car is good to go and i've found a new dyno (last one was rated to 600-650rwhp).

so.. in a few weeks...

was out for a ride yesterday for the first time.. boosting 22psi and it hits you pretty damn good... i had to add ~5% of fuel on top now with the 4" exhaust and new ic piping.

a big package is waiting for me at the postal office... will pick it up tomorrow... thanks enzo

Carnage!

YES!

have been running the car on the street for a couple of weeks with NO issues at all at 22psi.... got the car to the dyno tonight and did a reference pull to see where i was at.. didn't pay that much attention to boost since i was running the same setup as before, no changes..

all of a sudden boost is at 40psi at 5500rpm the wastegates just didn't want to open!!!!

now i got a big crack in my front iron and i lost 4 litres of oil that is now lying all over my engine bay..

saturday im taking everything apart to see if theres anything i can reuse..

ill throw in some pictures for ya when i got them..

no track for me this sunday....

Ahh that sucks. What happened with the wastegate???? What kind is it...looks like the valve maybe stuck on the gate. I assume this is still the unit you got from my buddies at F.I.?? Are you sure you had the wastegate referenced to the bottom port and not the top port only??

im using dual synapse wastegates, couldn't hear any of them opening, don't think both got stuck at the same time?? will look into that... might be bc related? or some of the teflon hoses melted..

it's funny you can lose attention just for one second and that is what it takes to blow everything to pieces.

Im not giving up... i think ill upgrade a few things

im actually pretty excited to see how she looks inside right now

So, you put down 770 hp before it cracked? Did the seals even break?

nah thats the boost curve

344hp at 5335rpm.

The motor still ran on both rotors but no oil pressure.. and no water left..

Man, sorry to hear that. I was hoping for some big numbers, since I'm running the same turbo on a 20B...

This helps me though, since it's a somber reminder for me to establish an ignition/fuel cut above my target boost pressure...

What kind of apex seals are you running? I'd love to find out if they stayed intact...

Gus that front plate looks like it was counter-bored for 5 studs. In the pictures the crack runs through bored steps.

What is the history of that plate?

the plate has been machined to hold 5 extra dowels, like you say the crack goes through 4 of them.

i've been running this engine setup for 3 years now and abused it alot..

the plate is and old reused one, it has over 80 000miles on it...

Gus were you using the dowels on this build?

You have the housings reversed in the picture of the loose stack. The bores in the housings are hard to see in that area and you have regular bolts pictured in the rear plate.

Also were the apex seals flattened at all on the center of their faces where they cross the spark plug holes?

Barry

Im using regular bolts, the housings and plates are machined to fit small "dowels", about 10mm each that goes about 3mm into plates and 5-7mm into the housings. You can then fit the regular bolts through these... i feel my english is pretty limited when it comes to explaining these things... i hope you understand..

havn't had time to check closely on all parts yet..
