what gear oil is that?

ive ran shock proof in my miata diff, and formula mazda dog box looks similiar.

 

Wow.. whats the details on what happened? That looks like a ton of damage. Mine is getting redone as we speak from loosing 3rd gear.

I destroyed 3rd gear years ago with a piddly 500 rwhp, albeit on a stock box.....

 

im using redline shockproof oil.

it died on a down shift from 5th to 4th on the highway.. i guess the face plate didnt like the shock load from the different gear speeds..
then some of the metal bits destroyed some of the gears aswell..

About the 3rd gear.. you can clearly see that it is the weakest gear by just looking at it..

i've got a stock tranny in now, we'll see how long that lasts :-)

 

Did liberty build your last tranny? How long did it last? Mine went 2 seasons of abuse. Pretty happy wit it. I think a flow control valve will help the 3rd gear from the shock load.

That tranny faceplated never likes down shifts!
