Mounting a BB turbo on an angle
I'm building a custom up-pipe for a WRX that will be using a GT30R BB turbo, it seems the only way to have the turbo correctly fit with the I/C piping will be to mount it on a fairly steep angle.
Will there be any complications doing this? Like oil not properly being fed to the bearings?

A-spec appears to angle the GT42R in their kit, so I guess it's not an issue. However, it's not that all that "steep" of an angle. I would say it depends on what kind of angle we're speaking of here...

Edit: I would try e-mailing/calling Garrett, Turbonetics, or Precision. I'm sure any one of them can give you a solid answer.

That looks pretty damn steep. I'd definitely contact Garrett to see what they say.
Here's a site a came across on google.

Maybe the pictures on this site will show you a better location for the turbo.
Hope this helps!

What could go wrong with the turbo if it was mounted like this?
Thanks TT_Rex_7, those guys are using the stock top mount I/C, whereas I need to leave room for the FMIC piping that comes off the blue silicon coupler in the pic above. Plus the power steering lines and other crap are right in the way.

15* or less is what garrett will tell you, the 42R pics are misleading only the turbine housing is clocked not the CHRA. I had a up-pipe that might have worked for you but it is long gone. That turbo will feel laggy on that car if it is a 2.0 Not too bad but definitely lose on the bottom end.

The customer is hoping it will be laggy...he doesn't want to replace trannies every week....neither do I LOL.
It is a 2.0L, I also had to hack up a $2500 Maximum Works header to make the up-pipe work for this.

Nobody answered my question.....whats the worst thing that would happen if its mounted at an angle greater than 15*. I'm curious....would it smoke? work fine? burn out quick?

^^Exactly^^ Premature wear and drain issues which can lead to smoking for sure. Another thing is oil coming out the ring gap in back and you will have oil coming out the DP.
