Question Motor/Turbo? Sorry long...

Well I was planning on going Single in November but I went out to start my car the other day and it was really hard to crank and when it did start it smoked for almost 10 minutes. It has never done that before and it was White smoke and it smelled like Coolant. So I need a new motor now. I am trying to figure out which port to go with and which Turbo Kit.

I have already narrowed my Turbo Kit choices down to the XST04S or the GT35/40. As far as porting, I want to go large. I have been thinking about a Bridgeport but everyone keeps saying "no" and to get a Streeport. I can't understand why. I have a daily driver so this is not my everyday car, just my Weekend Streetrace or Track car. The only thing is that it has to be reliable enough to drive for a few hours to and from the track. I don't want a Trailer Queen.

I have been talking to Bryan at BNR about a Race Port which I think is more aggreessive than a Streetport but less aggreesive than a Bridgeport. Has anyone had one of these? Or know of anyone with one?

My mods are below and will be having the motor redone with 2mm seals, hopefully, and dowels, with hardened stationary gears. As well as the new Turbo kit with 1600cc Secondaries and 850 Primaries, Greddy Profec B Boost Controller, SX FPR, and all the mods I have below. What kind of times can I expect with this setup and ET Street runnig 15psi of Boost?

This will all be happening within the next few weeks so any help before then would be great.

Thanks,
Scott

That fuel setup you suggest is overkill for 15PSI. And I doubt if that denso pump could keep up with 850's & 1600. You'd probably have to throw another in there.

Also, you already state 3mm apex seals. why replace the rotors & go with 2mm?

I believe the FD stationary gears are already hardened.

For times expect low 11's potentially 10's if you upped the boost.

Good luck.
Eric.

The GT35/40 is much much more fun at boost levels > 15psi. I'm heading to the track for my first time with a GT35/40 setup this weekend, I'll post my times, regardless of how poorly I drive.

Well I am questioning wether or not the motor was actually ported with 3mm seals. I will find out when I remove it so that is why I would rather have 2mm because I bet it wasa stock motor and I was lied to about it being ported. If it was ported then I will just stick with the 3mm seals.
I know the fuel system is large but I plan on running more than 15psi. That will be my low boost setting with my high boost being around 22psi. At that psi would my stock primaries be ok or do I need 850's? Thanks, Scott

stationary gears are already hardened. that race port is prolly just a big streetport. you might not want to do overdo this cause you'll advance the timing too much and you won't have any low end. you didn't mention what kind of track car it'll be, drag or road race.

Yes the Race Port is more or less a really agressive Street Port and the car is being built for drag racing. Not a drag car but I don't road race my FD. That is the job of my soon to be 240SX or AE86. Which will also be my winter cars.

es, what did you mean by, "I doubt it"

Doubt what? The boost or wether the fuel system can take it?

I meant I doubt if 550s & 1600s could support 22PSI. It would be close, and it might work fine for a while at 90% duty cycle, a lean A/F, & water injection or some other detonation retardant.

if it's gonna be for drag go for a monster bridge. but you'll need a much bigger turbo than the gt3540.

No it is not a drag car, it needs to be streetable still. I have learned alot more about the effects of Bridgeported motors so I have decided to go with a race port instead. I was going to run 850 and 1600 but then my fuel pump could struggle to keep up so I thought about 550 and 1600 but then I might not have enough fuel for 20psi. So I may have to get a second fuel pump or at least a larger one.

Is it possible to by the engine wiring harness clips from Mazda to replace broken ones? I have a few broke ones from when I removed them due to how brittle they were. I don't want to pay $750 for a new wiring harness. That is insane. Thanks, Scott
