Putting in motor/turbos what to do while i'm there

Hi, I'm trying make a list of items i should purchase so when my low mileage motor/turbos come I can have less delays. So far i have:

Oil, coolant, tranny fluid
rear main seal
vacuum line for non-seq
1/2 watt 330 ohm resisters, male spade heads
liquid gasket for oil pan

anything else a must if my metal gaskets appear ok to reuse? thanks for the advice! -TIM

I would go ahead and replace all manifold gaskets, new coolant hoses, and oil metering pump lines.

Any other mods that you want to do to your car, now would be a good time to do them.

Port wastegates
Clutch, fly wheel
Water pump,
Rubber hoses.

I would add a radiator (if you don't already have a good one) to the list. If you don't have a PFC or fan mod, you might want a miata thermoswitch (N350-18-840) to kick your fans on sooner. Also think about buying/making some upgraded grounding cables. How about belts, plugs, wires, and fuel filter? They are all good things to replace when you install a new engine.

Thanks keep them coming guys. I'm also doing a clutch, thermostat, had thoughts of the miata thermoswitch. The motor mounts look ok, and i'm thinking about removing the OMP and premixing. Does everyone replace there mani gaskets? I could see if you had a paper '93 but mine are metal. I'm avoiding having to wait for a part if at all possible. The fuel filter was just changed also. thanks guys! any more?

it would be a convenient time to replace the fuel injector o-rings. replace the fuel lines too since they are cheap as well. OMP gasket. oil metering lines maybe. wiring harness if you want....the list goes on and on and on.....

The metal gaskets are designed to crush when they are used. After a while, they don't seal as well since the metal doesn't "un-crush" when it's removed.

I would at least use a new LIM gasket since that's the worse one to replace when the engine is installed and the turbos are in place.

I had the engine bay painted, and it's a great time to get those parts polished. Clean or replace injectors, streetport, downpipe and any thing that might cost you more in labor when things are back together.

Lightbulb

depending on the mileage of your fuel injectors, get new/upgraded injectors. Stainless Steel MOP lines. new turbo oil return line gaskets (4 of them, 3 of one and one of the other). MOP gaskets (4 copper crush washers for the oil injectors and 3 for the pump itself---one figure eight washer and a pair of smaller circular washers). New crush washers for the Oil Cooler lines, new crush washers for the fuel rails, urethane motor mounts, oil pan reinforcement brace, the list goes on and on

While you have time to kill, double check the condition of your wiring harness.

Also check the oil pressure sensor, clean all around this.

Also, if you are going heavily into gauges, and want to do oil pressure/oil t, you might want to look into the FC3S.org replacement FD oil pedastal. If so, that should be installed before the engine is hooked up, because it is a royal bitch to do it otherwise.

Good call. The stock oil pressure sending unit (bell shaped sucker on the rear housing, driver's side) tend to go bad.....

Some of the above is a bit overkill unless you got $$

Definitely do the Fuel Pulsation Dampener, fuel hoses and the injector seals. My .02 cents

Replace ALL FOUR Turbo and Y-Pipe metal flange gaskets as well as the Y-Pipe O-Ring. Inspect all vacuum lines coming from LIM to CCV/CRV and replace with silicone hoses if necessary.
