hey enzo, how is this done? we here in RI are having a huge debate over dyno dynamics and dynojets. is it a setting in the dyno itself? there are 2 major dynos here one is a dd everyone who dynos there believes they will make tons of hp on a dj. but when you do the 20% figure addition there power numbers are way higher then normal. the reading off the dd seems about right for mods, boost, etc.

My car was dyno tuned on a Dyno Dynamics.

I see you make 407whp @ 16psi ^^ Mine makes 470whp @ 16psi.
I have the 1.06 AR with custom manifold 98ron 10% ethanol & water injection.

What load do you guys put on the car when its dynoed on a dyno dynamics. I think our load setting is 120. All the twin turbo FD's tuned on our dyno are all in the same range of power depending on mods. We have had 2 recently that have very similar setups & both made 330whp.

So would you think the difference in my setup to yours makes an extra 63whp?
My motor is also a large extended port.

Have you tried 20psi or more to see what happens? I just cant see why no one belives my 588whp when the guy that started this thread made 511whp on the same type of dyno. Thats a 77whp gap. I dont recall what fuel he was using or if he had any custom parts or water injection but I think a 77whp increase because of fuel type, water injection, custom high flow manifold and a hard tune is reasonable.

I did once when we first started tuning it. We had a miss fire @ 16psi. When I ran it on the strip it was 13psi, stock plugs, no water injection & normal 98ron. On good year eagel f1 tyres the best i could do was a 12.9 @ 190kph (118mph) wheel spining 1st & 2nd.

I built the car for track racing, I have not taken it back to the strip yet. Been busy droping my lap times. Some day I will try it again. I have a little clip of that 12.9 run. Its at home. I will post it up later.

ice pilot, i dont want to say your numbers are off since a dyno is just a dyno. but here is a thread on the 240sx forums that shows proof that a dyno dynamics can give out inflated numbers if the dyno is not setup properly. if you look at the consistancy of your dyno between mine 407whp and turborx7 511whp. you are about 60-70whp over on both. which makes me think the dyno setup was off. did you dyno both the 470whp and the 588whp on the same day??

Yip same dyno, same setup. Yea I know they are tuning tools & good ones too.

All our TT-FD's seem to be consistant with similar power depending on boltons. Dosent mean the dyno is right but heres an example for you. 1 customer had his car tuned on a hub dyno to 220kw@w. With the same tune he brought it to us for a power run an it did 205kw@w. His car was quick for a TT with all the boltons. Then we retuned the car for him & increased the power to 240kw@w. He said its noticably faster & alot smoother than before. He is able to chirp the wheels when hooking 3rd now. I know thats got to do with tyres but still its good as he never did with the previouse tune on the same tyres.

Also another comparison is an S5 RX7 that was tuned els where on a different dyno dynamics to 380whp. He did a power run on ours & made the same power.
This only shows that both dynos are setup the same, but it must mean that both are being setup according to the manual & type of car or they would not give the same reading.

Anyway its ok. I still have alot of fuel to use & we are going to be increasing the boost past 20psi soon to see what taps out first, turbo or fuel. I will make a video clip of it.

Super cool to see. I'm in the same boat as far as the kind of turbo you picked. I have a t3 35r. Steve should be tuning it on the 27th of next month. I'll be sure to post some numbers.

This is with water injection, 98 Aust pump fuel (100% Petrol/Gasoline), Good tuning and bridge motor, T51 Turbo charger, 25 ~ 23psi boost.

I think your figures if right wont be reproduced by many people

^ I find it hard to believe cause even with a high compression ratio rotor set the highest power I saw on the Capella was 578rwhp on 21psi (again T51, bridge port, WI, pump gas, big CDI set up, the whole **** show you can throw at it).

Enzo's dyno is "hyped up" to suit the American Market so it reads similar to DynoJet (he told you what it does in std mode 435rwhp or so), the ones we have here read very low by comparison, the one with the 588rwhp on ~24psi *low compression rotor set* was at a national dyno competition, highly regulated and controlled.... so no inflated figures.

Holy Aussie thread bump. Nice dyno though, good to show people you dont need a massive turbo for 500whp. Its working a little harder than I would recommend, but you can at least see its possible.

Yep thats what we were trying to prove. I remember everyone saying 500rwhp on a gt35r would never be possilbe lol.

This was last year.. I have since moved on to a bigger turbo and 8 injectors so we'll see what we can accomplish with that

i think more then 500rwhp is possible WITH LOTS of boost and water.

Im getting very close and hoping to prove it with a 140mph trap speed in the 1/4.

My final numbers were 515rwhp with this gt35r. I made some more passes when I upgraded my intercooler and it was much better conditions then the initial passes. but thats all my turbo was going to give. We had the boost up to 28psi and it didnt gain any power from 21psi.

If you use a T4 gt35r I dont see why 550rwhp or more isnt possible.

Pre turbo water injection will lift the air flow rate through the very small GT35R no problem

I have personally seen a T3 1.06 rear end GT35R (fitted with larger compressor wheel ~67mm like in a Z'd) make 355rwkw on DD on 18psi boost (same day I saw the 325rwkw *see below*) and seen sheet of it with over 410rwkw at higher boost (13B street port)... the turbine end is NOT the restriction here at all.

Another car I "saw" had T4 P Trim rear end with 1.32 rear but with H Trim *very small* compressor in 0.7 TO4S front housing, same story run to 26psi ++ (mid range dropping down to 22psi at full revs) and it did 325rwkw 436rwhp on DD (with pre turbo WI, stock ported motor). It is the compressor that limits the power on side ported rotaries more so than the turbine section from what I have seen

You will find if you do the math you are off the end of the scale of the compressor map by a long way! will show up in very high air inlet temperatures. The compressor is basically acting like an air inlet restrictor.

If you put your numbers in that calculator see how close it is to your dyno run.

i have to say when this thread started i was scratching my head...

i was looking at the then current GT35 compressor map:



given the map shows max output at 62 pounds per minute

yet considering who was posting the numbers i found it hard not to believe.

the thread takes on alot more rationality w the recent posting of the shrouded intake GT35...



we are now talking approx 70 pounds of air per minute...

that translates into:

70 X 14.471 = 1013 CFM/ 1.92= 527 SAE rwrotaryhp.

i can now see that the GT35 is a legitimate 500 hp rotary turbo albeit close to maxxed out. do put a P trim wheel on it though...

very surprised you didnt believe it then Howard. The car trapped 131mph with the 501hp it made shortly after. GT35r best street turbo IMO.

I'm surprised a ported shroud makes that kind of difference. I was always under the impression it hurt top end, etc. Did they re-design the comp. wheel or anything?
