Manual Boost controllers
Manual Boost controllers
i just installed a TurboXS dual stage mbc.
So far ive been playing with it and i got my boost to spike at .95 bar but it holds around .70 -.75.
Is it because its a manual boost controller?
My maps are for 14psi conservatively. Could i set it to hit around 1.1bar and hold at maybe .85 bar? Is that safe?

It's hard to pin point the problem if you still have that boost leak. Do you have the manual boost controller turned all the way down? If you hook up the turbo straight off the wastegate, does it hold 9-10 psi steady, or does it spike too? That will help narrow down what's going on.

I hit .98 bar last night. its not holding there but holy crap. It makes a huge difference, it starts to get scary in just a 3rd gear pull cause it seems like it wants to keep going and going and i look down and its already 90+ mph.
With a manual boost controller would it peak at higher boost and hold at lower...cause i think my buddies evo does the same. It peaks at 29 psi and holds at 21. or something.
I just need a general consensus. that way i could maybe make it peak at 16 and hold somewhere higher =P

Well If you're running the MBC and wastegates off manifold vacuum that would be the reason for your spike. I do this now because I'm losing pressure somewhere, and it's the only way I can get my car to hold boost to redline, but it spikes to like 18psi and then holds 16psi to redline. You're supposed to hook the w/g's up the the turbo's pressure line. That should eliminate your spike.
