M2 Medium with a GT35R?

Has anyone used an M2 medium with their single setup? What are benefits and draw backs and the results of this use? I drive the FD a lot and it will see traffic occasionally. I really want to know if the m2 gets enough air to the turbo and how bad is the heat soak? Any input would be great. Thanks

The only real issue with it will be hot air off the fans insulate the duct (as well as the core if possible with reflective heat barrier) The core itself will be fine for use, most cores on here are oversized and offer little gain for the weight and lag added.

Will the duct itself flow enough air though? I can use the DEI gold reflective tape and plaster it on the bottom of the core and duct right?

Get water/meth injection and you won't worry about it, but the m2 SMIC is a great unit. I have a similar intercooler (PFS SMIC) and just cruising without boost during the souther summer i typically see about 50c. So the heatsoak is'nt bad

+1. For my GTX35R I will start with the Greddy SMIC I have in my garage and next step will be water/meth injection. If that doesn't work next step up will be the M2 medium, or large if I have to.

I am doing this because of the reasons Sean mentioned like not to add weight to the front end of the car and throttle response.

Sometimes when I look at oem intercoolers and the intercoolers of some exotic cars (which all come with warranty btw) I think big intercoolers are overrated.

I would cover the end tanks and duct with this product.

Pretty? No. Works very well though and sticks like a bug in honey.

My first FD I got a large SMIC, and on my current FD I have a medium SMIC. Given the choice again I would not have bought the large unit. It makes little to no difference, adds perhaps a hair more lag.

With the intercoolers the air is not being directed to the intercooler. The duct is not big enough and regardless of the core there is not significant air passing through it. I made a duct that actively colected the air and rammed it in to the intercooler. I got much better temps doing that compared to any other tweaks. It consistantly lowered my temps by 10 degrees on my pfc (obviously only works when you are moving).

I think Howard made a post a long time ago. It was in regards to the air flow going through the intercooler. I don't remember the stats but it was staggering how little air flow we get even at high speeds.

Greddy stock mount is way undersized for anything besides twins at moderate boost levels. You can use the M2 Medium, but the large is preferable if you are going to run any substantial boost.
It would be wise to make a heat shield around the air filter it from the radiator discharge. Water injection is a must on any single turbo car in my opinion.
