Looking to buy a BW airwerks turbo

Hey guys, looking at going bigger then the t04z I'm currently running as I've gone for a BP with my new block.

Was just wondering where the cheapest place to buy one of these from would be, I find alot of sites have alot of different options with them, I'm looking for something with a T4 foot, 1.32A/R and an 80mm comp wheel. Was looking at the s400-80 on this website

http://www.forcedinductions.com/productsborgwarner.htm

Possibly thinking about going all out and getting the billet version with the race cover.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the cheaper suppliers?? They are way to expensive over here in AUS and given the strength of the dollar at the moment I'd be crazy not to buy it from over seas.

Check out the list of Bullseye Power dealers. Bullseye is a brand of BW turbos. http://www.bullseyepower.com/dealers.asp

I ordered my s475 from forcedinductions. It took about two weeks to get to me and they were the cheapest i found.

They could be the go then. But is the billet comp wheel really worth 700? Any guys running one?

I don't know about the billet thing. If you're going with an 80mm turbo, I don't know what kind of numbers you are trying to make, but I'd be willing to bet the standard cast 80mm will get you there. Billets tend to shine at higher PR's anyways, which your average aggressively ported rotary doesn't need as much of vs. piston engines.

I haven't had a chance to run the s400 yet, but the trend seems to be to stick with the T6 housings, especially at the kind of power level you seem to be aiming for. Besides, i'm pretty sure the 1.32 A/R only comes on the 96mm wheels and in T6 anyways, which happens to be what the cheapest units usually come with. Most of the guys using S475's on this board that I've seen have the 1.32 A/R T6 and 96mm turbine wheel.

Yeah, forcedindustries has a T4 option, which is what I think I'm going to run with in a 1.32

Thought about the billet thing a bit more today, it's too expensive for what it is, I don't think I will be too fussed about what could have been if I dont get it.

I thought I might add some explanation on the turbos. Forced Induction adds a little to the cost if you want a T4 turbine housing. With the T4 housing, you also need a smaller turbine wheel (the 96mm wheel is not available with a T4 housing), which will also add to the cost. The policy should be the same, unless they no longer use true BW parts for their turbos.

With an 80mm compressor you might see some nice gains with a billet wheel compared with the cast version. If you are not trying to eek out the most power, and the decision to get the billet wheel means thinking about a budget, skip it. If you can spend the money and not think twice about it, go for it.

There's a pretty big difference between an 80mm BW unit, and a 67mm billet EFR turbo. How much power you looking to make with it anyways? And what are you intending to do with the car mostly?

Yeah I had a chat with my builder last night and he was well against the big turbos, said it's fun for a while but you get over the lag and hard to control when they come on, not really suited for a street car. It's going to be a weekender with some drag use. I know it's a smaller wheel but it still flows around the same as a 42r and saves me getting a boost controller. I'm aiming for around 500rwhp. Anything more is a bonus. With a Bridgeport and the efr unit it should be plenty.

NJ Borg Warner Airwerks Turbo chargers / Rebuilds NJ

If you're looking for Borg Warner Airwerks turbos try Scroll Products over in Fairfield, NJ. I think they also resell Comp Turbo's.

I sent in a set of Borg Warner K04 RS6 turbochargers and had them rebuild them. Both compressor wheels were damaged and I could not find anyone to fix them. Somehow the guy at Scroll has some hook-up with Borg Warner parts and was able to get my K04's looking new again.
