Talking LOOK! T66 Dyno Chart

Well,

The car finally made it to the dyno today. It performed up to my expectations.

At 16 psi, 410 rwhp, 311 tq. I was running 100 octane. Important mods are in the sig. Numbers are SAE corrected.

What do you guys think? Obviously, I would like to run more boost, but that will come in time...I may keep the FC Vert as the daily driver and the FD as the weekend warrior but who knows...that will be at least a year down the road.

Looks good, probably a p trim .68, or .81 looking at the power. Try to graph in RPMs next time instead of MPH. Are there any numbers on the exhaust housing? The AF ratio is OK for race fuel, but I would back off to 11.5:1 on the street. A little safer, and won't cost you much HP. Did you play with timing at all? All in all a nice strong dyno. Carl
BTW that is one FLAT torque curve, err line
can't wait to dyno my T66

Looks good. I"m with Carl... what turbine setup do you have. Wheel and housing A/R?

Really nice.

Did Scott tune your car or did someone at secret services? Looks pretty good. I would kind of expect more HP at 16psi with a T66. Thats more what a 60-1 should make, from what I've read at least.

What's up with the MPH scale? By my calculation, if you're running a 275/35/18 rear tire in 4th gear, the dyno only goes up to around 7000 rpm.

Thanks for any info you can provide on that...

Im with Carl.....get the afr to bout low to mid 11s.....i also think with that amount of boost the hp # would be higher.....overall though that is a good run....good job

I agree with everyone else and was also suprised at how flat your torque curve is....pretty nice

now go here ( https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...5&pagenumber=2 ) and post some acceleration times for comparison's sake

compare the 60-1 and the T66 flow maps

You will see the T66 efficiency range is in the 20+ range

Yes if your goal is to be a Dyno qeen
then you can use High Compression rotors and a 60-1/62-1 and make 450rwhp+ at 15-16PSI

I've always heard/seen 60-1s producing 400rwhp at 15psi for the most part. That was my point. 10 more HP with 1 more psi doesn't seem right. But the curve is VERY nice

1FastT2 made 410 at 15PSI with a 60-1
of course a FD should see a bit more HP since they have bigger ports and a more efficent intake manifold/TB
maybe?

for his 1st time at the Dyno his numbers are very good
What were the Intake Temp's like? pianoprodigy

Scott from Mazsport did the tuning.

Wargasm: I think he took it to just below 7500 RPMs and I was wondering myself why the dyno charts were in MPH. I'll call over there and see if he'll send me a version with RPMs.

I'm not sure of the Trim, A/R and all that stuff. I'll take a close-up picture of the Turbo tonight and you guys can decide...

I'm happy with how it turned out, although I was hoping for just a little more, but honestly, who isn't?

Down the road, we'll up the boost to 20 psi and get the turbo into a boost range where it's most efficient. Until then, it'll have to be my ~360whp daily driver (~12psi).

Hopefully tonight I'll get my 40-140 run in. I wanted to do it last night while I still had 100 octane, but weather and traffic did not permit. I'll have my friend videotape the run and I'll post it.

IMHO that turbo must have a relatively small AR (.68, or 81 ptrim) It is true a 1.00 Q trim at 20 psi is generally ~500rwhp, but the smaller AR will give a little better spool as a rule. THE EXCEPTION to this in Supra land is the T66 Q trim. a .81 Q trim properly set up has been known to spool equal to a .68 p trim while giving ~60rwhp more up top. Also a big factor is that the T66 likes 20-30 psi, and will gain well in excess of 10HP/psi in that range from what I have seen. Because of this, I will be trying a .81 Q trim undivided, followed by a 1.00divided Q trim on "Chris' Magic Mani" if I cannot get the power(450@20psi) out of the .81. Still curious about the timing, and stay on race fuel till you dial back the AFRs. Optimally run a mix all the time with that set up(even with the AFRs backed off). Carl Byck

Carl, the AFRs were richened up some after that 410RWHP run. I'm only running 12 psi for my daily driving with 93 octane. That should be plenty safe, right? My mechanic is definitely on the conservative side when it comes to tuning.

Hopefully, weather and traffic permitting I'll get the timed run in...

Should be OK as long as you are 11.0:1, alot of people run leaner, but I run it rich, and give up a little power. I said 11.5:1 above assuming race gas. Carl

I think his tires run smaller than the sidewall suggests (as some brands do) and/or they are worn. Either that or they are actually 275/30/18's. A 275/35/18 tire mathematically translates to about 80" circumference. However, reading the chart at 5252rpm (where TQ = HP) shows about 93mph. Assumming that the car has a stock 4.10 differential, and the dyno run was performed in 4th gear (1:1 ratio), then the car has tires of about 77" circumference. Therefore, where the dyno run drops off at 130mph would be about 7300rpm.

Nice dyno numbers. That gives me a starting point to what my FD will be doing. I'm kinda curious how the half bp and 1.00 Qtrim divided T-66BB I'll be using will do at 15psi for daily and 20psi for high boost. But great torque curve as others have pointed out. You should be very proud of that sheet. Laterz.

Thanx Pianoprodigy!!

I hope Scott does his homework and tunes your car perfect because I'm using your maps. Although I'm running a T-78, the cars pulls like crazy right now at 12psi with 110 octane(Purple stuff). Those hp #'s look real good though. I can't wait to dyno mine. I still have to take it back to do some more upgrades. Scott called me about your pulls on the dyno and sounded very optimistic. Oh, by the way my car was the black, gutted 3rd gen with the cf scoot hood. Sounds great man....Good Luck!!

What did the ITS T66 BB Q trim cost? What manifold are you using? Thanks. Carl
