Interesting Idea to turbo an na s4

K, so my buddy and I were talking. He has this idea of hacking up my RB header and making a pseudo-remote mount turbo setup. Any reason this would not work? I have plenty of td05h-16g turbos laying about and a few flanges that fit. And piping. And a factory intercooler from a Starion...

Besides needing the obvious water and oil lines for the turbo, i'll need bigger injectors, and what else? Lol

1. Look at original post closer.
2. MegaSquirt since I'm highly familiar with it
3. I have an HKS SSQV3 on one of my pipes.

that dinky DSM turbo is a waste of space.

the rotary engine will choke trying to push air through that straw.

best way to do a cheap turbo swap is to either buy a full oem turbo2 drivetrain swap or buy a turbo 2.

Will the 20G or HX40 i have be more acceptable then? I'm not looking to make insane figures.

Edit: for a straw, I made 300whp and 342ft lbs with the 16g. It was maxed the hell out, but it certainly did it.

If you can hack and weld metal/manifolds, then you can build something to use a stock turbo. They go for cheap all the time in the classified section. At least it won't choke the motor and you can always upgrade it later.

FWIW: I bought my S4 turbo for $50!

The idea is to use what I have. But if I can pick up a stock snail that cheap, then it's worth looking into. But this hx40 is tempting me.

I dont want 2 sound like a dick but with the type of questions that you are posting i can tell that you have no idea of how 2 setup a turbo rotary. If you have a NA and you want 2 get away the cheap way just turbo it with all the turbo 2 parts and be done!or you can do it the other way around.........doing a legit full turbo swap.............after you are done with that and gain some experience start playing with different turbos, ems, injectors ect ect.My advice is read as much as possible on the subject and learn, enjoy the car, drive it and then when you are ready for the next step go for it.I will hate 2 see another dead rx7 part out thread

I 2nd this motion... Find turbo II parts(turbo, manifold, engine)...go to the 2nd gen fourm... read... get smart... you will get the answers you seek when you ask the right questions.

Using a starion 16g is not a good idea. The exhaust turbine is not rotary friendly, listen to the answers you are getting, good advise. Please don't destroy a pertectly good RB header.

You are correct. I am new to rotaries period. So bear with me. I know plenty about building piston cars, this rotary is a learning curve. But learn it I will. I absolutely hate that when I learned everything in my 4 years of schooling that we only had a paragraph about these motors. And they're so awesome! I'm starting to enjoy it so much. Thanks guys for helping me learn!

i suppose we're not so friendly because we answer the same questions time and time again. even the not so apparent answers usually get a bit of sarcasm tied to them due to that.

unfortunately there's only a handful of people who are very helpful in each area, those people sometimes get burnt out. i have had to delete more PMs on this forum than i have posts. fortunately being a vendor i now can hold 10,000 at a time(my box is currently half full), before it sucked only being able to hold 1,000 as i would have to clear out my box once a month.
