Help!
I need intercooler piping. I just got an Apexi RX-6 single turbo. I also had a custom intercooler made for my fd for cheep but the inlets are 2.5". I'm thinking of having the inlets on the intercooler enlarged to 3" to work with 3" piping is this a good idea? Is 3" piping a good size for my setup on the FD?
also, aluminum piping? Is that what I should get?

I am running an M2 intercooler, so I am using 2.75" piping. My inlet to my turbo is 2.5", so I used a reducing coupler (2.75 - 2.5) for my fit. SAMCO offers both a straight reducing or 90 degree reducing couplers to meet your needs (whichever diameter you decide to run).
As for piping, mine is steel.

the bigger the piping the longer it takes to charge them with boost, also too small of piping won't allow enough air flow for specific horsepower ranges. let me know what hp and boost you want to run and i'll figure out what size piping would work best without causing a bunch of lag or extra heat.

We've used 2.5" and 3" pipe on TO4E and GT35 setups. There was not an appreciable difference in spool time. IMO porting and other factors will determine spool time much more than charge pipe size. Where are you located in Indiana? We now have TIG capability to do aluminum charge pipe. We're located in Southern Indiana near Louisville. I can also source 2.75" aluminum tubing to keep the install relatively easy and eliminate diameter changes. If interested drop me an email ludwigmotorsports@insightbb.com
