Intercooler & Injector Questions!

I was wondering if I could use a stock mount intercooler with a single turbo? Like the m2 medium or large or the pettit racing large. Is a front mount better than a stock mount? The turbo would be a xs to4s.

I was wondering if i have to get 550 primarys with my 1300cc secondary's. Can i just use 1300 secondary's and be done with it. Can i get 400 hp with just 1300cc injectors and fuel pump.

Thanks

i think using 1300ccs for the to4s is fine. FMIC and SMIC is really up to you.

Yes, you can use an SMIC with a single turbo. I'm using the M2 Medium on my car:

A FMIC will probably get you lower charge temperatures than an SMIC and will be less likely to heat soak (especially on the dyno). But, an SMIC won't block the radiator as much, has less volume and less bends in the pipes, which can mean lower pressure drop. There are good and not so good intercoolers of each type, of course.

If you have an FD, the car came with 550cc/min primary and 850cc/min secondary injectors ("550/850") from the factory. 1300s are just the stock 850s enlarged by RC Engineering to flow more. If you have 1300 secondaries already (not likely), you are probably running 550/1300, which is enough for 400 RWHP. A fuel pump will also be needed, as you indicated.

Running a few more psi of fuel pressure with an aftermarket FPR (NOT an RRFPR, just an adjustable FPR like the ones from SX and Aeromotive) can lower your injector duty cycles (not automatically -- you MUST retune the ECU to get these results) if you are pushing the limits.

I have a web page to help choose fuel system components or estimate the capacity of what you've got now:
http://www.maxcooper.com/rx7/how-to/...tem/calcs.html

It is absolutely worth learning how the fuel injection system works if you are going to be modding and tuning the car. My calcs page has some links and things to specific info about what the various inputs mean, but it doesn't really cover EFI in general. I am sure that a few searches for "speed density fuel injection", etc. would turn up some useful info. There are books about it, too. It isn't that complicated, but few people take the time to learn how it works.

So, what would be the best fmic to use and what would be the best smic. I want to keep my ac, so what fmic would be the best.

What would my gas mileage be with that set up?
550/1300
Fuel Pump
And do i need a fpr
