Question Intake Manifold Porting

Are there any benefits to be gained from this , if so how significant and how do you go about it , also do you port the upper , lower or both ?.

Come on guys I am sure one or two of you have tried this, I saw a photo where MAGNUS had a weld across his upper manifold that he said was due to him cutting it open to port it .I would like to know soon as my engine would be assembled soon, thanks guys .

I match ported my UIM to my LIM and my LIM to my intake openings. I have no idea how much performance this will yield, but it can't hurt! You can't really put a numeric figure on something like this. It may not help at all and it may only be good for 1 hp. If you do enough of these things then it will all add up in the end.

I don't think you will notice any significant gains in Horse Power. Marginal at most in a street car with low boost and muffled exhaust. I spent a lot of time on mine, way too much. This was for a different purpose. I wanted to try to reduce pressure from the turbo to the combustion chamber. I am running a dinky RX6 kit. From the research I did before I purchased it, it is getting out of its efficiency range at around 14 - 15 lbs of boost. This means that for every extra LBS. of boost you will be creating LOTS of heat compared to a larger turbo. There are tradeoffs for quick throttle response. I went over and beyond to try to reduce back pressure because of this.

The easiest thing and most practical is to pin the upper intake to the lower ( so the ports are in a fixed position ) and then match the ports for about 1 - 2 inches. ( Where the upper connects to the lower )
