Inexpensive, Effective, Closed Loop Knock Control for Haltech ECUs

Less cost than J&S, pulls both leading and trailing, no need for minimum split, adjustable max retard...

Would this work with a MicroTech?

Does the MicroTech have a manual ignition trim function, like the Haltech?

Well,

What i did for closed loop on my wolf is similar. I purchased a J and S, connected the monitor output to the ignition trim feature, set up a linear scale for retard all. 20 deg max retard on the J&S is 1.03v. I set a linear table to retard ignition for every .Xv that the unit senses and retards. This way i retard the ign map

Justin, this way is a cost effective and easy way of doing it! nice work!

ps, i am using this on the wolf, but any ecu with a voltage trim input can be configured!

i'd hit it if it had everything included.

will it work with a gm knock sensor, or only a single wire?

Wow, now that I see how the wolf can use an analog input to vary timing I can say that my circuit should work just fine in its current form with a wolf ecu. Just set the timing chart to pull 8 degrees (or any value to max retard) at ~0V input and then linearize up to pull 0degrees at 2.5V and above and this would do it.

Does anyone want to try this?

It just needs to be a piezo electic style knock sensor that puts out a voltage proportional to the intensity of the knock. If this signal can be pulled from one of the two wires on a two wire knock sensor then it should work. It just needs to put out a voltage spike (like a variable reluctance sensor) when excited.
