Well I've had this turbo for awhile, but never knew what the compressor upgrade was... the compressor housing says "Garrett" and the A/R of it is .60

I was just wondering what series of turbos this belongs to if anyone knows....

That looks like the HKS sport turbo upgrade. They use Garrett compressor housings.

Rotorlution... Hmm, I always thought the HKS Sprt Turbo upgrade was a whole kit with a completely new turbo...no?

jspecracer7... Yea, I was thinking it was a T04 of some sort...

Can anyone else confirm by my pictures?

HKS does sell an entire kit but Im almost positive they are using stock exhaust housings.

Rotorlution is correct. The HKS "kit" uses the stock manifold. That's why the price is relatively cheap next to other "kits".

Talking t3 baby yeahhhhhhhh

almost forgot about it.

its been soooo long since i seen one.

T28 garrett series with t3 compressor
i think its 60 trim, .60 A/R.

not sure about the internal wastegate
where's the inlet flange pics?

good for 250 hp(what i have been seeing) but if rebuilt and cleaned and etc. wheres the velocity stack, u seem to have it on, there is a clean circular spot on the sides of the turbine.

I might be wrong, but that is my 2 cents.

The HKS kit for Turbo II's is a full upgrade. It includes a turbo and a manifold, along with installation accessories.

What I mean is that the HKS kit uses the same exhaust housing/wastegate as our stock turbo's.

Here is what HKS says:

T04e
Divided
Trim 46mm
A/R .84
Manifold included
.4 to .8 kg/cm or 5.8 to 11.6 psi

And just for kicks, here is the staged mod sheet they show:

87-88 Mazda RX-7 Turbo II
Stock - 182 hp @ 5.5 PSI

Stage 1 - 200hp @ 7 PSI
Turbo exhaust system

Stage 2 - 223hp @ 8 PSI
Super Power Flow air filter
Twin Power ignition
PFC-FCON

Stage 3 - 262hp @ 10.5 PSI
Electronic Valve Controller III

Stage 4 - 280hp @ 11.5 PSI
Intercooler upgrade

Stage 5 - 348hp @ 12.5 PSI
Additional injector controller
AIC injector kit
Sport turbo upgrade

I have that same turbo on my girls car. It came from a pan speed built engine. This was a Pan Speed rebuild with a Pan Speed computer and "high Flow" Turbine It is advertised as making 300hp. I am not sure of the exact specs on the turbine and am in the process of finding out. I have a "high flow" turbine on my car and the compressor is way larger than that one.

When I find out I will post up here and let everyone know. This is only the second one of these turbos I have seen including mine.

NO,

The HKS kit does NOT use any stock turbo parts at all. It is a FULL T4 upgrade as 13BAce said. The older kits used a cast iron manifold that looks simular to the stocker but IS NOT. Also the older kit used a .84 divided INTERNAL WASTEGATED turbine housing. Its a Garrett turbo 100%. The turbo uses a standard T4 divided foot print. These internally gated T4 turbines are OEM equiptment on some NPR trucks and older diesals supplied by Garrett. I hear, but am not sure, the newer HKS sport turbo kits use an external gate now.

Knight sports sells (or used to) compressor upgrades along with many many turbo shops across the world (Japan, USA, Aussie, etc.

Hard to tell just from a pic, but the compressor on infini IV's turbo is NOT a t04e, or a 60-1 (aka T04s, T60, T60-1, T04B 60, T04B 60-1 etc.), its a T04b of some sort due to having 8 blades (actually 16, can't see the other 8) were as T04e's have 6 (12) blades and the 60-1 has 7 (14). Can't tell you what it is for sure without a measurement of the inducer and exducer, but I'm guessing a T04b of some sort.

That's what a lot people do, from I've seen on the 2nd gens, same setup, upgrade the front part of the stock turbo like the one you got there that came with that motor from japan. I had one of those, sold it after it took a crap, oil seals went.

Yeah that turbine is an original creation of Pan Speed here in Japan. I have not been successful in getting actual specifications for it but it is T04 based compressor with the rest being the stock turbine, however the internals are replaced with higher quality stuff and the whole turbine is balanced and so on.

Like I said before I have this turbine on my other car....hehehe my girls car. I drove it for a distance the first time the other day and it moves pretty good even at .5 boost. With the computer and turbine boosting 1kilo it is supposed to make 300hp. After inspection I will get the EVC hooked back up and rip the Cat off and put it on the Dyno. I think 280-290 is definatley possible.

They still do, I've got one of their upgrade kits sitting at home, and it's still listed on their webpage.

It's the S320, claims 300ps, sounds good for a daily driver.
