rather, its too big for a STREETPORT 13b. Go bridgeport and realize lag is overrated.

T88h is a BIG Turbo! your going to need some serious porting or a big shot of nitrous to spool that beast!

horse crap. Im street ported and I spin my t78 quite quick, and the t88 spools nice on his 7 as well. He is full boost around 5200@17lbs. fast spool by no means but once it spools much like the t78.. there isnt much like it.

yeah no.. If its a roll nothing a downshift cant do.. you and people running around here talking about turbo lag this and that.. until you have owned one or drove one dont talk really.. The extra 1000rpms to spool my t78 is worth every little bit of time.. that guy with his t04 is going to be suffocating his turbo at the boost levels mine will run. Oh well, to each his own right?

thanks for the replies guys....I appreciate it...the reason I'm asking is just that a friend of mine....who happens to be on this forum as well...a Marcel Burkett....runs a TA51 with a halfbridged s6 engine...and as far as I can see....well from behind...hahhha...his car works really nicely...so hence the interest in a t88....I know Im a new user but that doesnt mean Im a new driver....hehheh...and I am serious about this t88...just want to know if it will wreak the havok that I want it to....any more comments are definitely appreciated....especially from guys with experience with comparable turbos....thanks...
and if it requires NOS to work....then tell me...whatever it takes....ill do it...

Look into a GT40R BB quicker spool and more power than the T78.

Yeah, Yeah, I hear this turbo debate all the while and some of you guys commenting are only D*** swingers. You really have no idea how the T78 - T88 series of turbos operate when installed on a rotary engine. The first problem with that is when a turbo is purchased no prior research is done so no turbo tuning actually takes place. No turbine sizing, trim and A/R considerations are made and when they end up bolting the unit on the car, it runs like a slug and then they blame it on the "Damn Turbo". Then some friend says get a 60-1 or John uses a T66 get that, not knowing why one or the other is better to be used. Your particular combination helps to determine what turbo should be used, as are many other factors.

I have seen street supras running T78 and T88 and they work well. So why not on a RX7?

it's those turbine housing A/R's that are going to kill you, 1.15 is about the biggest I'd ever go with bridge port to make it driveable anywhere but the track. but the downside is if you go much smaller your turbine torque drops off like a vw falling off a cliff. order up a smaller 1.15 housing and I'd say you can get away with a large street port on the 3/4 ports, I've got a T70 on a RE and we found that overporting the 1/2 ports only serves to reduce charge velocity.. rather then increase flow rates

That big of a turbo isn't needed.

Ham you scared of going fast? Seems so! You seem to be confined and limited to the realm of your experiences and try to avoid the possibilities. If ths is so expand your knowledge, understanding and experiences.

Anyhow my question is "What is not needed"?

13BJCC you have to find out what the 18cm turbine housing compares to in a Garrett. As a matter of fact some friends of mine use on their customers street driven mitsu 4g63 turbo cars...12cm turbine housings up to 16cm turbine housings and these cars really haul ***. Their drag race car actually runs a 22cm back housing. So in figuring, I would do some research to confirm your selection.
