How much boost is TOO MUCH??

I have a single turbo 93 RX7 with a FRESHLY built Pettit racing motor. It has 1000 miles on it. The first 800 miles the car was driven pretty easy for the break in. I recently WAS running it at about 14-15psi for just a few runs, needless to say it was insanely FAST! Just had it re-tuned and all fluids changed and the boost is now set at what I feel is a SAFE 11psi. Now, that being said, I miss the extra 70 or so extra horsepower it WAS making at 15 psi.....SO, how safe is safe on boost, can I go back to 14 or 15 psi or should I stay at 11?? Pettit is not very confident with having a single turbo on one of their built motors, which I was surprised to hear, they said TURN THE BOOST WAY DOWN. I need some honest advice! So the question is, how safe is safe?? Thanks guys in advance for any input!

safe boost levels are tied to your tune, which takes into account, Injector size, fuel, ignition, charge cooling, and what you plan to do with the vehicle... Personally 15psi on pump, more if you have water/meth inj, race fuel 30's.. methanol 45-50Psi
but its all in the tune, what ems are you running? i have a feeling they told you to keep boost low b/c you dont have a proper tune, or supporting items

Look up your turbocharger maps too. You can´t just raise the boost to a level without keeping an eye on the turbos (safe) limits

I plan on running 22psi. People are running up to 24psi on street cars with a good water/meth setup.

your tuner should advise you how much boost is safe, just tuning it up without proper maping, and injector for that much boost (850/1600) you'll be buing another motor faster than you can blinkyour eye
