how does .81 s trim compare to .96 q trim???

Like the title says, all things the same how would these two compare spool and flow wise? If they are similar I would go for s trim since the housing can be changed.

Thanks in advance

isn't a .81 an on-center housing?

I don't know if it is but I meant tangential. I will rephrase....both tangential, .80ish s trim vs .96 q trim.

Thanks.

from my understanding the smaller the A/R the faster the spool is supposed to be but has higher rpm restriction. but in reality what i've noticed is that on our cars, the higher A/R tend to spool faster (hardly noticeable) but then again its doesn't have the top end restriction.

how this applies to different shaft sizes i'm not sure.

I understand that a smaller A/R usually means quicker spool at the sacrifice of flow.

I am looking for a comparison between two particular combinations from people that may have had experience with either of them or from the turbo/flow experts on the forum.

I am looking to answer whether if right now you want the flow of a Q trim with a .96, is it worth it to get an S trim with a .80ish housing for similar spool just to have the upgrade-ability later on if you do choose to go for more HP or if the S trim is just slower spooling in general.

Any one have any input? Would these too be comparable, flow/spool wise? In my head it seems as though they would be close in flow and spool but things tend to be different in real life.

I'm talking about Turbonetics newer wheels like in the GTK...

No experience with the S trim at all, but I moved from a 0.84 A/R divided T4 O-trim (with 35R-sized compressor wheel) to a Precision 6768 Q-trim on 0.96 A/R un-divided, and lost a lot of response, almost 1000 RPM at similar boost. Obviously attributed to the larger compressor wheel, larger A/R, un-divided turbine housing, etc. Take it FWIW

Yeah I experienced the same in the past going from O to P...you also went bigger on A/R, I'm sure that didn't help either... I will just have to experiment on this one...

Thanks for the input.
